I am… a walking contradiction, a Renaissance woman, a Jill of many trades and a mistress of some.
In my life, I have worked as…a cleaning lady at a county jail, a secretary, a printer, a graphic artist and designer, an art director, a sandwich slinger, tech support – the nadir of my life – a baker and a pastry chef.
I can find inspiration in the mundane, in the dishwater, in the soup pot or the laundry basket, as well as in the woods or in other people’s words.
Facts can be a starting point, and so can fiction. In fact, what spurred me on to writing a novel, now in its third draft, was reading a book by my published competition and thinking…”I can do that…”
So I did. I still do. And four years on, some slight publi…

I have been sitting here, at this table, in this Baltimore establishment of dubious repute and doubtful merchandise and gutrot, for two hundred years now, lurking in the shadows where such as I are never seen, only sometimes sensed by the insensible, or sought by the dissolute, who never find me. The insensible can sometimes feel my presence, an invisible breath on their necks, the faintest of soft feather-brushes, softer far than the gooseflesh that follows, always just beyond their re...

The Aural Anaconda -a review of ”Bloody Kisses” It’s time…for a change. It’s time to get my head either out of my ass or out of Roman Britain, or just plain…out, somewhere – elsewhere, or else wear out what’s left of my synapses. They’ve been buried, unfortunately not fatally, in dense archaeological tomes of academe. A woman can only take so many Sub-strata B earthworks variations (early first to third-century CE), before having an overwhelming urge to cause a good few third millennium earth...

“Would you please,” Arrius asked later that day, “take your nails out of my back?” Iolanthe had quite forgotten herself, and that had not happened in years and years. “Did I …oh! Oh, Gaius, I’m so sorry, did I draw blood?” He rolled off her and on to his back with a massive sigh, followed by a yelp. “Ow! Yes, you did.” “Well, whatever got into you?” Now, it was Iolanthe’s turn to sigh. Her toes were slowly unfurling. Had it really been so long? And how had she forgotten? How could she? Arrius...

It was a slow and painful walk from Postumianus’ office through the praetorium to the private quarters of the Emperor and his family. They walked past offices and anterooms and several audience chambers, through a large formal dining room and along several corridors, before they came to Severus’ private sanctuary, a small three-sided peristyle garden off the Imperial family’s bedrooms. A small fountain, adorned with two gilded leaping dolphins at the top, bubbled water into a basin below, and...

The Unforgivable Crime I have committed the unforgivable crime. No, you'll find no dead bodies buried under my floorboards, no hidden Swiss bank accounts referred to in cryptic numbers in a document buried in the "Soft-porn" folder on my harddrive. (I wish!) I am many things to many people, but..."I am not a crook!." No. In a life filled with all sorts of drama, I have never committed anything that might be considered criminal. Or should I say, I've never been caught? ;) But according to the ...

I'm not quite sure how I should review this and give it the attention it clearly deserves, but I'll try. It's not poetry, not flash fiction, but posted under non-fiction. So then - words to live by? First of all, I was rather startled by the juxtaposition of "cynic/cheated". I can see your intention perfectly well, but I guess I, for one, don't think about these things enough! This is good, because it at one and the same time declares and contradicts - much like all human beings do, and much ...
Wowee - what a concept! The quest for perfect love, or perfect sex, or else simply - the perfect conquest! I can see there might be more than a few sensitive souls who take issue with your subject matter, but I'm definitely NOT one of them. You have a great and a distinctive voice in your piece, you have a certain sarcastic and self-sarcastic angle to the whole "find your one true love" scenario, and you also, I think, have a great sense of humor about the silliness of it all - nymphomaniac b...
