It seems I am destined to live as someone who is constantly terrified. The boogie man is still under my bed or lurking in the closet, you see, and at night I still hear the screams of the children he devours. The images of long concealed nightmares are finally sharpening, and I can remember. Like, like (and this is one of my first memories) when I ran from my room, my room that would darken so drastically at night fall, with elongated images of torture sketched with charcoal, and not f...

"I am not." This purred to my love-hurl when we rest in bed. togettingher. She Smiles. I am not. This is quite lackluster, Re-member-ing, always, but As for feeling --

i would pass by that window same hour. Every day i would hear the music spewing out of the window’s curtains. one day i stood outside ears attentive for the excruciatingly sweet duration of that song he was talking to me, that [horrible] guitarist: “wren you hear an awake-ward tune, id catches yr i -- you know.”

Short Story / at that party

It was in the hallway outside the party that my phone rang again. A scrawny banana had just stepped on a quite drunk Arnold Schwarzenegger’s foot and was about to get beaten up pretty bad. I pretended not to look. I was having fun, for a change; it was like being in Europe, at one of those clubs. You’re thirteen, on the cusp of something big, and everyone there is older and drunkenly talking to you as if you were the prettiest girl they had ever seen. Except this time I had a drink in my hand...

Humor/Satire / The Sandwich
This has some cute moments. Dave is so ridiculously zany that you can't help but smirk. The problem is, I'd like some back story. Why does Dave hate turkey sandwiches so much? Why does he think wheat bread is morally ambiguous? I think this piece would work a lot better with an absurd flashback scene somewhere in it that explains Dave's situation better.
This is so darkly comedic. Some of the imagery honestly made me gag a little-- well done! "With the rest of his jaw strength, he chewed off his lips and swallowed. He spat out his teeth like watermelon seeds." I liked this part especially; the use of the metaphor in the last line is very effective, partly because it relates something so unusual and gross to an everday occurrence. Also, the similar composition of the second and third verses implants the words in your brain. I wish you would've...
Humor/Satire / Quote About Life
I've never really liked the old saying about lemonade because it seemed like a blindly optimistic oversimplification of life. This one is better-- it's funny and encompasses a lot more feeling. Joke's on you, life!
Wow, this is great! The imagery is so intense, and your use of alliteration and assonance and consonance go marvelously with the different images. "angelic aproned abigail bakes cakes caressed with inflamed kisses" The a noises create a more elongated feel, as the words roll off your tongue, in contrast to "another painful push produces a portrait" the p sounds in this line, that are similar to a stutter. The only problem I have with the piece are the last four lines. They add a nice change o...
Compelling story, but the punctuation is a little weird. The structures of the sentences with the semi-colon and the colon are very similar, so it feels slightly redundant. Try experimenting more with syntax. Overall, good job! I feel like I know Caroline well, but am left intrigued to know more.
