More than 600,000 Italian, Hungarian and Romanian soldiers fought in the Battle for Stalingrad. Field Marshal von Rundstedt was universally dismissive of his allies, citing their lack of training and equipment. The most notable deficiency was the appalling lack of anti-tank weapons and defenses. The allied units arrived at the battle in poor condition, having suffered partisan attacks and air assaults as they moved towards the front. Although some soldiers fiercely resisted during Operation U...

The newest expansion set for Axis and Allies Miniatures, Contested Skies, is still riddled with problems. As the title suggests, Contested Skies focuses on adding aircraft and flak units to the game. Included are the Stuka, BF109, P-51 and IL-10, as well as the Flak 38 and Bofors 40mm AA gun. But, the idea has been poorly implemented. Instead of trying to fit the new game mechanics into the existing rules, the designers simply slapped on another set of bandages to cover up the gaping holes. I...

Angelfire is another visually stunning and highly detailed set of Dungeons and Dragons miniatures that fit seamlessly into the world of Eberron. As suggested by the name, this expansion set focuses on the dynamic conflict between angels and demons that are part of the “pulp fiction” atmosphere of Eberron. David Noonan, game designer at Wizards of the Coast, said the figures help flesh out the magical and action-packed environment many players are now exploring for the first time. “It’s full o...

Candidate Campaigns for Undead Suffrage By Paul Glasser Staff Writer It will be hard for a local politician to get elected, because his constituents don’t have the right to vote. “It’s a Catch-22,” Herbert West told The Greensburg Gazette. “I can’t win unless zombies can vote, but they can’t vote until I get elected.” West, 49, of Shelbyville, is the founder and only registered candidate in the Greater Indiana Zombie Unification Party. He’s running for the Shelbyville town council and doesn’t...

This is an excellent start to expressing yourself and your feelings. I have a couple suggestions. If you want to improve your writing, try to describe what you feel instead of just recounting events. When he left you at work, how did you feel? Yes, you were angry, but what did you think about? Did get so angry you felt hot? Did you scream at the sky? Did you kick the wall? Technically, you need to work on your punctuation, spelling and grammar. There needs to be spaces between each sentence a...
A very interesting article. I only have two concerns, and the first one is about using the ad as a source. It's obviously very biased and self-serving, so I would be hesitant to use it your main source. Would a reporter use claims from TV or radio commercial when describing any other topic? Probably not. I would have tried to find a written account from the newspaper archives or historical society that gave you the same details. Better yet, you might even be able to find someone who had been ...
Overall, an excellent article. The reasoning and presentation is clean and concise. The only real problems are a few very long run-on sentences, in particular the second sentence in the third paragraph and the "quote" from the admissions tester. A few awkward word choices interrupt the flow occasionally (say a class that covers the same material, but at a slower pace), but it's no bid deal. I can't decide if the references to "them," "they," and "the man" are more interesting than they are di...
