Nothing cuts as deep as an empty smile;    Like a sharpened cross sliding down your wrist.       You give in and die a while,          And cast yourself into the lake of fire; “I wish, I wish.” Words lose their meaning and promises break before being spoken.    The world becomes as dark as cold charred coal.       Faces lose their reason and hands are bound and broken, &nb...

Coursing through my veins and infecting the blood, It tingles and pains, It rips and floods, It overtakes my being in waves, Then pulls me back slow, Pulls me into the grave below, And holds in, my breath to gasp, But only to choke, and never to last. It can shatter dreams, and build new ones too. It makes you think nice things, never to come true. It makes you hope for a lie. It holds your breath still, and makes you want for death. That compares very well to true tragedy doesn't it? Sometimes we escape heartbreak, only to run into another, and then another, so on and so forth. We tend to make despair from something as beautiful as love, just as nature makes ash from something as beautiful as a rose. The imagery here is very sweet and, as I said before, the symbolism re...
Haiku/Senryu / Tranquility
Truly beautiful. I love the conflict in words here. Sailboats that are like headstones; ships that are anchored but do drift. It symbolizes death so wonderfully. A headstone can be seen as a vessel to another world, can it not? Though a person is dead, do they not tend to come in and out of your life each day? In your memories a person can feel so alive one moment, and then be gone and dead again the next. 100 kudos to you. One of the most fetching Haikus I've ever read.
Poetry / What are you?
I really love the opening to this poem. The speaker says, "Now I know how you must feel," and then goes from there with question after question. I get the feeling that this is the speaker questioning himself or herself, especially in the line about the mirror. I envision the person speaking to them self through a mirror, just asking what it is that they want or what they are doing. That makes sense, because everyone tends to do that an awful lot. Overall I really like this poem. It expresses ...
