Poetry / To those who think i'm upside down
You just keep on knocking and I’ll continue not caring.
I glance at the clock then down at the ceiling.
I’m not upside down so don’t you dare say I am.
I’m just hanging here in need of a friend.
I needed encouragement they gave me rope.
I did what I thought would please them the most.
They gave me a lifetime of life yet unlived.
So I gave them a son who they may never kiss.
Say that I’m selfish, I know that I am but please don’t mention that this is a sin.
Running is tiring and walking a bore but if you just fall you don’t have to try anymore.
Continue with you as you wish to be and please never again think of what was me.

This is what poetry should be, just elusive enough to keep you wondering yet portraying enough for the reader to make their own mind up about what the poem means to them.
They gave me a lifetime of life yet unlived.
So I gave them a son who they may never kiss. – Oh how this rings true.
Thank you.
