Hindsight is ever perfect.

This can be taken in the context of all the little death’s we suffer during our lives—the failures, the losses, the wrong turns. It catches on the use of ‘one’s’ and ‘he’. I would experiment with other pronouns to see if you can get better agreement.

Very thought provoking.  I think it would be more powerful if you changed it to true purpose or better yet, true meaning

Did you mean “purpose” or “purposes”?

That said, I did like this quote in the sense that the great unknown will always remain the great unknown. Except to us atheists, of course. :P

True, but then again some of us know our purpose in life. but who is “he”, do you mean we?.
Needs quotation marks.

This is one of the most convoluted things I’ve read here. I truly hope that you re-think this concept. This quote would indicate that life is a waste..

True, and unfortunate. :(
The only thing I would suggest is that you remain consistent with ‘one’—‘Only after one’s death will one know the purpose of life’.

This sounds quite familiar.  It reminds me of Mitch Albom’s novel, “Tuesdays with Morrie,” which is based on a true story.  Morrie says something along these lines on his death bed.  If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it.

Regarding my interpretation of the quote, I believe we will only know our purpose after death because that’s the final moment where you realize what you’ve done to give your life meaning.  I’m not sure how to explain, but I’m trying with the best of my ability.  If we only know our purpose after death, how do we realize this if we aren’t in existance anymore?  Some will answer with religion beliefs, but being as I’m agnostic, I don’t know how to answer that.  Of coarse my interpretation could be wrong.
