if i babble a bit here, will you report me to Steve’s Sister and make her send me a mean message about taking my credits off me? you wouldn’t do that would you? because i’m going to say nice things about you now, nice things about your piece of criticism.
i like it because it is very short, and when i was in college, my favourite pieces of criticism were the ones that were really really short, and didn’t take long to read.
i like it also because it is elliptical. once, this guy i liked said that one of my poems was elliptical, and i blushed, and said “thank you” and then he said, “that wasn’t a compliment” and i blushed even more. but i mean it as a compliment here. i really do. i think it’s important for critics to be elliptical, so that the artists never know that they’re being insulted.
but i know what you’re talking about here. you are celebrating the belated recognition of flash fiction, despite the fact that that recognition will kill the joy of writing it. but we’ve been through that before.
