Poetry / Vampire Lover
She judged me from a distance for well over a year,
She said that I was right for her and had nothing to fear.
She said that though she had no soul she still had a heart,
And that we must be together now and never be apart.
I said I’m nothing special, I’m just a plain and simple man,
She said that did not bother her she loved the man I am.
I knew she was no angel that descended from above,
And even though she had no soul she still knew how to love.
She lived a thousand years she said and could live a thousand more,
But she would never find and love a man like me forevermore.
I have a vampire lover, she’s the only love I see,
I have a vampire lover that is watching over me.
So all you big bad bullies better watch what you do,
Or my vampire lover will be coming after you.
She said she wants to change me, to keep me by her side,
I asked her no and to let me go, when my time came to die.
I begged her not to change me and to let me pass away,
She said because she loved me, she would let me have my way.
Now as I’m growing older and my health begins to fail,
I can see the torment in her eyes and her sorrow prevail.
She said that when my time came and I had to depart,
She would simply follow and put a stake through her heart.
The sorrow wells within her as my death creeps ever near,
For the very first time I can see in her a hint of fear.
I see her watching over me as I drift into my death,
The tears are streaming down her cheeks as I exhale my final breath.
