Poetry / Hero of the Working Class

All day, all night, even if your scared of heights,
They tell you once, tell you twice, “Boy you better play nice!”
They tell you not to fight, not to stay out all night,
if you stay in a fight and if you stay out all night,
then they take you, then they make you,
then they make you while they shake you, then their told that you were bold,
so now you are going to get scolded.
They ask for help, they dont like using the belt,
Now their told that since they cant take the kid out of the fight,
to take the fight out of the kid,
I know your wondering and I’ll tell you,
it worked, cause now you do as your told, and your told not to be bold,
just to get a job, and now you have, so they say your a hero,
A Hero of the Working Class, your not the only one,
but you are a lonley one.

Very cool poem and I enjoyed the way it rhymed after every line. It was as if much of it was written by the great John Lennon himself. There is a wonderful message in this poem that I really hope gets brought forth by others who read it.

Interesting and thought provoking. I found a few grammatical errors, check your usage of “their” and “your”. Your flow was pretty good in the beginning, but started to break up a little towards the middle. And just curious, what does being afraid of heights have to do with anything?

The sentiment is one many of us can relate to. Those of us that come from the working class , especially. “your told not to be bold, just to get a job, and now you have, so they say you are a hero”

It’s hard when ‘they’ tell you not to chase after dreams you may want because it is not as secure as getting a job and joining the ‘real world’. It’s not a bad way, being a member of the working class. It’s just not the only way.

At least I think that’s what you were trying to express. I could be totally wrong…either way, you made me think. Good job!
