Why are you reading this?
Do you find that a strange question for me to be asking you? Why should that be? Isn’t the point to any kind of communication, understanding what someone else thinks? And if I don’t really understand WHY you are reading this, why should I be writing anything at all?
Hello, my name is Heather and I am a writer. A good or bad one, well, that’s up to you to decide. Too tall an order? I don’t think so. You spend most of your day making these kinds of decisions; filtering through all the information that is being handed you, in a myriad of mediums and levels of intellectual sophistication, deciding what you’ll digest and how you use your oh so limited time—you’re an expert at this, trust me.
Is the question more, why should we communicate at all? What’s the point to all this?
I’ve looked at the idea of writing for mainstream newspapers for quite some time now; I’ve looked at the patterns of the everyday news before me and most of the time, I’m REALLY not sure if I’m suited for it. I find a lot of writing, in papers, is based on some editor’s idea of a theme or thrust of a group. This could be where my problem lies, as I’ve yet to FIND a group that suits me. Have you ever encountered this problem?
What is the point to these ‘groups’? What, in your experience, has made you seek out and stay with a group? Tell me about your experiences; I bet it would make a good piece in a paper like this. Why do people join groups?
Next subject. You didn’t think I’d only talk on one subject, now did you? You don’t know me very well. I hope, in time, to remedy that. Oh and thanks for reading this far. Do you have any idea how amazing that is, given your attention span and the incredible number of things that need to be done in this world? Are you a doer, or a watcher, by the way? Are the odds that the doers are reading this piece, gathering ideas from others as to how THEY might approach similar problems, or are you a watcher, satisfied to soak up someone else’s ideas to make them your own? If you are, well, I guess I better be careful about what I say, here, right? I wonder if every writer does this? Or do writers have a completely different agenda from everyone else on the planet?
That’s for me to know and you to find out about.
Thank you. Welcome to my point of view.

This is a very nice light-hearted view of a writer’s mind. I love it. I am a doer by day and a watcher at night. I love work. I understand it. At night, I watch people interact with each other. My heart has many scars and it is very hard for me to trust anyone outside of work. I am a writer, so I watch, and then create stories from reality. I love how you talked directly to the reader and challenged them. Good luck with this very unique style of writing.
