Monsters
A little boy cries out in his sleep
I think the monsters got him.
An old man forgets the last thing
he has to remember, the monsters got him.
A women gives birth to a crack baby
that has one dream,
before the monsters get her.
Someone slices their wrists
because their lover is gone.
I think the monsters got them.
A man lies drunk in the gutter
an empty bottle at his feet.
I think the monsters got him.
Kids shoot each other for a leather jacket
and I’m sure the monsters got them.
If we keep this up I know the
monsters will get us.

I like the idea, but I found it to be too simplistic. I would like to see more descriptions and more of a conclusion. As it is most of the characters are very cliché, they need more detail to become real for a reader. Give the monster some teeth, give the characters some blood!

This is one very unique work of art. In this short poem you said so much it’s incredible… So many get killed from useless pieces of nothing because it’s their turf. It’s so ridiculous. This poem brought it right to the surface and gave it words of true justice. Really like this one. Keep it up.
