Poetry / To the One Who Knows My Heart
To the one who knows my heart
I send my love
And kisses manifold
Across the sea of stars,
Across the bounds of Time.
I dream of the days of youthful glory
Beneath our shady tree,
Your arms holding me in a perfect embrace,
Your lips kissing my tears away.
I know not why they took you
And cast you in confusion;
I know not why they tested my undying love
With a parade of imposters in your guise.
Through the sting of every whip
And every pitiless laugh,
Through the suffocating solitude,
And past every darkness,
I lived for you.
I found strength in my memory of you;
I lived to find you again.
Every breathing moment I sought for you,
But all I saw were empty faces,
Devoid of spirit, devoid of love.
They tested my faith again and again,
At first I stood my ground;
Yet they beat me down again and again;
The world before my eyes was blurred;
The guise of Truth became but a ghost,
And through the frustrated screams in my mind,
I prayed for a miracle.
He came to me in the most unlikely of places,
A most noble soul.
His arms were strong,
His love was great,
But he was not you.
It pains me when I hold him,
It pains me when I love him;
I cannot open my heart to him,
For only you have the key.
But I must not let them see my tears,
I must not let them see I’ve failed.
I must look into his eyes and say
He is a nobler soul than you.
I know not when you’ll find me;
The doors to my heart will be closed.
I’ll be sharing my love with another
Who also needs my love.
I know you do not deserve this;
I pray you can forgive me.
Yet I will still love you as I had before.
Please do not mourn me,
But love as you did before.
Enjoy your life,
Embrace the stars,
For in them lie the key to my heart.

This was really well written, though the message was a little unclear, meaning I (as the reader) could not tell if this was meant to be a religous sort of poem, or not. Other than that it was really well done and I loved the lines “Embrace the stars, for in them lie the key to my heart.”

this is so beautiful. wonderful word choice. you have a strong and powerful voice. there a few grammar mistakes in fourth and sixth stanza, but other than that ,beautiful work.
Aww, this is so sweet. It’s exactly how I feel about a boy I lost last year. I still to this day cannot love another person, and even though he left me, when I am with someone else it feels like I am betraying him. Anyway, this poem brought out a lot of emotion for me, and that’s a good thing. Good work :)
