My Minds Monologue
the curtain slowly opens… the distant shimmer of a falling star calls my name
an hour glass that holds the combined sands of the world endlessly pours into my eyes
my sinful soul reaches up the heavens in search of forgiveness while my condemned flesh seeps down to the depths of darkness
the hunger pangs of children angst at my gut suffering of humanity tug at my heart
these lips are sewn shut with the threads ignorance
my feet are shackled by insecurities
my hands are tied with this wretched rope of self-hate
careening into a bottomless well of pity
I drown in tears of acid that burn through my hope
the black curtain falls…
I forget to remember

Good poem. It feels like a spell of darkness which at once illuminates you to your condition but when it’s over makes you forget because the key or answer is there, so you are trapped in a cycle. I quite like the style which has a detachment to it as if you were retelling a dream, so even though at first it seems like a list, it actually works. Great.
