Lyrics / All the Usual Distractions
all the usual distractions
stand apart
from all the usual distractions
trace the movements of the winds
step beyond
the grasp of utter disillusion
feel a tingling
begin beneath the skin…
take a chance
to move between all we don’t know
it’s worth the risk
if it just widens the scope
move with certainty
in time with the truth and
translate the meanings by the soul…
step inside
a world of patience and confidence
where those shadows cannot hold
breathe in deep
and lose that sense
of abandonment
on this plateau of self control…
feel the rush
of something known to be ancient
ride the wave
of what was meant to be real
like a child in unabashed anticipation
once given freedom
to express the depth of feeling…
step inside
a world of patience and confidence
where those shadows cannot hold
breathe in deep
and lose that sense
of abandonment
on this plateau of self control…
on this plateau of self control…

I love the “plateau of self control”.. very meaningful and original. this had a great flow to it, one i enjoyed reading very much.
I loved when you wrote “feel a tingling begin beneath the skin” this is something that truly moved me, i don’t think i’d change a thing about it. nice write

I like this. It reminds me of the art rock of the seventies. Yes in particular. The lyrics have a Jon Anderson apeal.
i completely agree with a lot of the other reviewers- this would be an amazing song to hear! i love how you keep the general set up of things, with a similar pattern throughout the whole song, but switch things up as well…very creative!! i also think that this is a good song for people to be able to relate to…i love it over all!! i especially like the 2nd to last verse and…oh man i dont know i loved the whole thing…haha great job!
Great lyrics.. I’d love to hear this. I’m sure it sounds great.
