Poetry / life imitates art
one day into the next
my life in watercolor
all sullen shades of gray
a sudden, vibrant drop of color
that quickly fades to nothing
crude, clumsy strokes
my life in charcoal
simple lines and lazy curves
no shape or substance
a work in progress
forever incomplete
a malformed shape
my life in sculpture
carving and forming
a mass unfinished
subract to add
negative space
a single frame
my life on film
the light is never right
and never long enough
always the same shot
wasted paper

A beautiful poem in both content and structure. Love the creativity of using different art media as metaphors of the challenges of life, trying to get it right. Everyone should be able to identify with this poem.
That 1st stanza is brilliant, capturing how our lives move in a daily routine with special moments (‘vibrant drop of color’) that stand out and are over too quickly. Actually, they’re all pretty brilliant. Simple and powerful, beautiful and sad. The decision to use no CAPS and no punctuation works perfectly.
Your writing feels like it comes from a person who has worked hard on his craft so that it looks effortless. Pure, simple, nothing contrived, the sensitivity of an artist. I think that kind of talent is rare. Maybe leave this one alone. It’s beautiful as is.
