Poetry / Demons
Silence fills the room,
Can you hear it?
The distant whispers of mourning;
Transcending and eclipsing
Even the most joyous of lives.
Where the soft shadows of smiles,
Are outlined with tears,
And sleep which was once so peaceful and deep
Becomes tranquil and disturbing.
Where sorrow hides in the form of familiar faces,
And memories take the form of specific destinations.
Our lives set sail on the most difficult of journeys,
And sometimes we lose ourselves along the way.
With solitude as a companion;
The pillars of life are sustained
All the while, and yet still,
Our foundations continue to shift,
And appear to be crumbling.

I love how this draws the reader in by asking a question in the beginning.
“Where sorrow hides in the form of familiar faces,
And memories take the form of specific destinations.” This sticks in my mind and I can relate directly to it. I think this is fine as is. The lines break off in appropriate spots and everyone can relate to it in some way.
