Short Story / I'm Not Dead
As I sit here stuck between life and death I constantly say to myself “I’m not dead,” and foolishly I believe it. As I sit here floating, surrounded by all these beautiful hues, I wonder to myself “When will this devilish dream finally come to an end. Today. Tomorrow. Yesterday? Is this dream really my new reality?” It can’t be is always the conclusion I come to. This place, this…….. this…….this limbo is just another one of my prophetic dreams. Maybe one day this will be my resident, but now it can’t be. I’m only seventeen. I’m too young to be dead. I haven’t done anything I wanted to. I haven’t even brushed my hair today. My long beautiful dark lochs, with the ever so slight highlights of the deep dark jade green, that brings out the color of my eyes.

Green highlights in the hair? Interesting. Ideas? Another character needs to enter the scene that is familiar enough to the author, gaining enough trust to either allow him/her to lead him/her out of this purgatory or dream into either a chaotic world or a peaceful one. Maybe into the world of adulthood where the young person begins to see a different reality that was lost in the younger perspective on life and be able to compare the differences in how an adult copes with the teenager’s reality and the difficulty that an adult has with a youthful perspective on life.

An interesting start of a story. It drags the reader into the suspence making the reader want to know more. My advice would be to use a little more detail. Deeper thoughts would work as well. Keep up the good work. I hope to read more.
