Poetry / I'm Here
I’m Here
by Sally Hanan
I’m here.
Feel the comfort of My presence.
That mountain up ahead, the one you keep staring at-
I know what’s going on in your heart.
I see how big it seems in your eyes.
I see how alone you feel,
how afraid.
That’s why I’m here.
That warmth at your side,
that’s Me.
That strength in your hand,
that’s My hand holding yours,
tightly.
That sense that I’m not exactly beside you,
that’s the truth. It’s because I am one step ahead of you, holding you at My side yet slightly behind.
I’m going ahead, to prepare the way.
I’m going to make your rough places smooth.
Just hold tight.
Let Me wipe away those tears.
You were never alone.
I want that to sink in.
You were never alone.

Overall, I thought this was well written. I thought there were times when it had flowing issues.
I was confused by the capitalization of the Me’s & My’s; I wasn’t sure if you were writing as God, or what.. but it was confusing.
Again, well written. I enjoyed it.

Very good poem. I liked the visualization of a mountain ahead, in fact I love that whole stanza. You went further than just saying “I know how big it seems” – you added “in your eyes”. And I like the line “I’m going to make your rough places smooth” – very original. I love this poem, and it would be great for many different people, but especially for parents. Great job!
