Perception is King.
Then, a forward march through time.
Abstraction Usurps.

This doesn’t work for me…it’s not true.  Perception changes, but changing perception is not necessarily abstration.

Perception is always King…that never changes…which perception is King, that’s the usurpation of power which takes place.

It’s a nice effort, just not logically correct.

Also, it’s Senryu and not Haiku.

This is a good thought and it was well put.  You are expressing that as one grows older their perception changes.  And this perception is king in the sense that it alters the way information is processed and the way that decisions are made.  I like that as this march through time goes on that abstraction usurps.  The overall flow is good and I like that you followed the 5 7 5 format.  Each line has its own thought that when put together form a more cohesive and complete expression on this subject.  It is interesting that someone as young as yourself seems to understand that as time crawls on that perception changes and so with it our reactions and our overall views on things.  This was a very good effort.  Hope to see more writing from you.

i prefer transitive
also, since this is a quote,
not poetry or whatnot,
why the line breaks?
furthermore, why isn’t it a sentence?
consider something like:
perception is king, but with a forward
march through time, abstraction usurps authority
btw since you use “usurps,”
are you saying perception
is the rightful authority?

I am not sure if usurps is gramtically correct, but in an odd way, it fits. It makes the meaning of the entire thing tie together for me. I like it. The first line is amazing. “Perception is King.” How true. How true.

I like where you’re going with this poem, but I don’t feel as though perception and abstraction work well enough against each other.  They make your point, but not very strongly.

Older people’s perceptions probably don’t weaken as much as their reactions. It’s their reflexes that are going, not their ability to understand what’s happening. My great aunt was sharp as could be at 98, but you wouldn’t have wanted her behind the wheel of an automobile.
