I find it interesting – the different intepretations of this quote. For example, mylunchisalive saw this is a statement about the futility of simplicity – but I consider it simply a challenge—that the quest for something so beautiful should be so complicated.

Not at all times. Keep your own life simple and avoid those who complicate things and it’s rather simple. It doesn’t say much for what one’s own life would accomplish, however. They’d, in theory, never accomplish anything of greatness, though.
