Poetry / All-American Mutt

Being a mutt
Yeah, it sounds bad
But honestly, it isn’t

People ask me
“What are you?”
“Where are your ancestors from?”
I always tell them

I get weird looks though
There’s so much there

Italian
Welsh
Irish
Scottish

Native American
English
German
Maybe more

I don’t know
I don’t find it odd
Do you?

It’s a good premise for a most likely longer poem. (I’ve got a feeling it’s spur of the moment) This is one of those poems you probably look back on and add stuff to.

This reads like a solid rough draft, a sturdy foundation to build on. I think you should go through this more, go more into it, give us more detail on what it’s like to go through life having others look at you the way they do.
