Poetry / "In the Moment" (Analysis)
Just light up your eyes
With your candid smile,
And, all my beguile
Slips into the sunsets
Of our weekend at Fire Isle.
Seeing you, snap me
In my toga outfit
I never thought
It would make me feel so alive.
Why did this sailor guy
Have nothing but fantastic smiles?
I really tried to be unaffected.
You lay across the chairs in the gazebo
So enigmatic.
We were all to ourselves
Finding paradise,
All of a sudden.
I relinguished my stoic demeanor
To ask you to play poker.
And, you were my winner!
I could charm you, and
You could me-
Like equals.
If I could pop out the curtain of lost promises,
I would say: this is what I want Jesus!
