Lyrics / Sweet Melancholy
Ask and you shall get
That’s what they say
But unfortunately
Life doesn’t always work that way
And at times I feel like there’s another side of me
Looking out
From behind these hazel eyes
Flirting in a non-threatening mode
To reveal herself
And give way
Oh, Sweet Melancholy
You so un-seeming
And yet when you creep in
And bolt the door
There’s no where for me to go
Stuck in this quiet misery
So numb and unfeeling
Like a guest that insists on staying
And I just want you out
Ask and you shall get
That’s what they say
But unfortunately
Life doesn’t always work that way
So you stay
Polluting my hopes and dreams
And make me forget how to be happy
And I compromise a big part of me
As I give in
To sweet melancholy
And it ain’t right
It’s not right
And it’s not fair
I’m an angry landlord
And you’re just a miserable renter
So I’m revoking the keys to this body
So get out
Get out of the this house
And disappear.

wow, very deep. You seem to be very in touch with the emotional side of poetry. The poem itself is gorgeous.
I believe my favorite part is the
“I’m an angry landlord
And you’re just a miserable renter
So I’m revoking the keys to this body
So get out
Get out of the this house
And disappear.”
over all, very nice!
