Lyrics / Fade to Black (Analysis)
I don’t know how it got this far
Yet I feel like I’ve been here once before
Standing on the edge of something
Wanting, yearning, bleeding
Knowing that you were meant for more
Not standing, sitting
Cast off by someone less hungry than you
One day I’ll wake
And strip the varnish off this body
To show you that I’m real
That I am someone special
Worn, weathered, and jaded
This body has survived
Many storms
Hardened and depraved
Yet it’s all the same
As I fade to black again
Honesty is harder to come by these days
I’m such a beautiful liar
But when I’m in your face
That’s no act
What you see is what you get
You can lie all you want
But you can never lie to yourself
Not for long . . .
One day I’ll wake
And strip the varnish off this body
To show you that I’m real
That I am someone special
Worn, weathered, and jaded
This body has survived
Many storms
Hardened and depraved
Yet it’s all the same
As I fade to black again
Some day you’ll be passing by
And you’ll remember me
And whether time remembers you or not
I’ll remember you too
As a memory
And how I cut the cord
Then walked down that
Long road winding alone

good piece, sometimes its hard to let go of someone or something but after the grieving period most of the time its necessary to let it go, not forget, but just let it go. i like the repitition (chorus) of this piece and the length is about perfect, nice ending also.
