Lyrics / Dear Sam, Come Closer

Can you tell me who I am
Can you tell me what you see
You thought you knew the truth
You never knew the real me

The only thing you recognize
are the lies I hide behind
Come closer my dear, come closer
And you'll sink into my mind

don't try to figure me out
Give me the benefit of doubt
don't worry about this
Just sit back and reminisce
Of days when I was clean
Look at me now, so obscene
It's a shame without a doubt
You'll never figure me out

Is this becoming scary
or a little bit confusing
You have a right to feel that way
Because I find this amusing

Please don't leave me alone
To fall apart inside my head
I'm not who I thought I was
What's the harm of one more med?

don't try to figure me out
Give me the benefit of doubt
don't worry about this
Just sit back and reminisce
Of days when I was clean
Look at me now, so obscene
It's a shame without a doubt
You'll never figure me out

The person I was
I can no longer be
Please, help me

This is for your own good
Do you agree?
Please, save me

Can you tell me who I am
Can you tell me what you see
You thought you knew the truth
You never knew the real me

don't try to figure me out
Give me the benefit of doubt
don't worry about this
Just sit back and reminisce
Of days when I was clean
Look at me now, so obscene
It's a shame without a doubt
You'll never figure me out

I love how the lyrics cut straight to the chase and get into the meat of what this person is feeling. Some times people get caught up in making the lyrics of the song sound pretty that they don’t really bother using simple terms or even idioms to get their point across. I personally, think that the simple makes more of an impact. This definitely makes an impact.
I really like the bridge in particular. The pattern/repetition of beat in “please, help me” with “please, save me.”
