Non-fiction / Presidential Announcement

We have become a country where our elected officials’ primary concern is staying elected, where electoral representation is lip service. The agenda is being driven by the mainstream media whose goal is to keep the populace living in fear. We have openly Marxist organizations, such as moveon.org who want to regress and suppress achievement and productivity and create their arrogant vision of a socialist Utopia.
We have been slowly bleeding out internally by increasingly looking to our government to solve the problems which plague our economics, our society, and our ability to raise our families without their obtrusive interference.
Our politicians politely pay lip service to our Constitution without really showing any signs of knowing what it says. They ignore the precedence our founding fathers instilled into a nation which at one time was considered “the last best hope of mankind”. We are teetering over a precipice which if not corrected will irrevocably eradicate the vision of our founding fathers.
That is why I find myself in the unenviable position of declaring my candidacy for President of the United States of America, 2012. Other than 10 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force, I have zero experience in government on any level. I have no desire for government employment of any kind. I feel once I the government has it’s sinister clutches on me, I won’t be able to get them off, like trying to get the sap off your fingertips. I never have believed politics was intended to be a career objective, but an opportunity to serve the constituents. Political service was not meant to be monopolized by lawyers seeking a career as politicians as largely constituted today. Our legislative branch would be better served to humanity as a whole if it was more representative of America, farmers, teachers, engineers, mechanics, people of every race, religion, socio-economic background, regardless of education level. Education has never been an accurate barometer of intellect in any event. A high IQ has nothing to do with one’s ability to govern wisely.
I fully support term limits for all representatives and senators. I believe it should be up to each and individual state. Limiting representatives to 3 two year terms and our senators to 1 six year term would greatly increase the ability for anybody to participate in the process, would stimulate new ideas, and would result in a better representation of the face of America. Also, it diminishes the influence of special interest groups. Anything more, those elected representatives cease being productive servants and instead engage in pursuits of ulterior motivations and filthy lucre. They succumb to the money of the lobbyists and corrupt their elected purpose when doing so instead of doing the work for those they represent.
I will keep all American military personnel in Iraq until Iraq can fully function as an independent, autonomous nation. To pull our troops out before their mission is fully completed, and abandoning the people of Iraq to the whims of neighbors who do not have the hearts of the Iraqi people in their best interest would be a grievous sin. It would cause our allies to consider our reliability in future hostilities with the enemies of freedom and liberty. I am a supporter of freedom, and liberty for everybody, and it is time for this country, founded on blood and sacrifice to assume the mantle of freedom and prosperity.
I seek to remove government subsidies to keep otherwise unmarketable products in the market. This will effectively remove ethanol and bio-fuels as alternates to gasoline from the market. These products are all carbon-based products and they all have a carbon footprint. You and I by simply breathing produce a carbon footprint. It is time to restore common sense through critical thinking. I like clean water, and I like clean air, but I am not going to be given to knee jerk reactions to bullying tactics of environmental extremism. The USA is the standard for clean air, for clean water, for ingenuity. Through market needs will engineering breakthroughs be made, not government arm twisting. We simply cannot legislate technology into existence.
We are told drilling for our own resources will not bring down the price of gasoline in the near future. Perhaps, but it will most certainly result in lower prices in times to come. We have a weak dollar, and increased demand in China and other Asian countries on the world’s supply of oil has resulted in these skyrocketing prices. I propose a two year suspension in the corporate tax and capital gains tax to get this economy back on it’s feet again. Congress and I together will come up with a viable solution to social security which cannot be done without assistance from the private sector.
Our government has become a giant parasite in the form of a hydra, sucking the resources from the producers, and redistributing them to the millions of government dependent parasites. It’s time to wean the able bodied off the government parasite. Government run economies are simply inefficient and untenable. A government’s function is to protect it’s citizenry from foreign and domestic enemies, to enforce the laws so it’s citizens can pursuit those unalienable rights described in the preamble of the constitution, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The federal government should not be managing nationalized health care, should not be telling us we have to wear a seat belt, or how we should live our lives. If we aren’t harming the civil liberties of others, then it ceases to be a concern of the federal government.
We have been hearing for decades about our health care crisis, and it has become apparent the only thing that anybody can do is point fingers. This doesn’t solve the problem and it doesn’t foster ideas for a possible solution. However, there is one thing that would reduce the number of gratuitous and frivolous lawsuits which we can put into law. However, your representatives and senators are going to need heavy persuasion from you, their voters to implement this change. The time for “loser pays” legislations is long past. This simply means that if a person sues somebody else, and that lawsuit comes to court, the loser pays all legal and court fees.
This alone will regulate the cost of malpractice insurance among our physicians, greatly reduce our overloaded court system, and the cost savings will be passed back to the consumer through lower health care costs and health insurance rates. The problem we have here is we elect lawyers. Those elected lawyers are against any such legislation because they are protecting their trial lawyer colleagues in ways which is an obvious conflict in interest and ignore the purpose to why they were elected in the first place.
I am totally in favor of the pursuit of clean, renewable energy resources, but not at the forceful will of an over-reaching federal government, but of the need driven by a free market economy. Our leaders do not have all the answers, and they certainly do not have all the information they need to make wise decisions. Many seek to have their ears tickled by “yes men” and sycophants who tell them what they want to hear so they can justify their continued quest for power through the pursuit of their personal agenda. Unfortunately, we have become ignorant as a nation and do not realize the government needs the people much more than the people need the government.
I have two policies which will be very unpopular in many circles. Before I address these issues, let me remind everybody, voters, and elected officials that it isn’t our responsibility to try to make everybody happy. It isn’t possible, and is frankly disingenuous to try. With that said, I intend to see our borders secured, and our immigration laws enforced. A law that isn’t enforced isn’t very useful, and if it’s not going to be enforced, why have it in the first place?
If I wanted to take my life savings, and just cross down to Mexico or row a boat to Cuba and secure my own little empire with my money, how do you I would be greeted by them or any other country for that matter? So, why should we maintain border security differently?
When my ancestors settled in Louisville, CO back in the late 19th century from Italy, they immediately adopted English as their language because they were Americans and they thanked God every day for the opportunity to better their lives. As a result, I don’t know Italian, but my family has enjoyed the fruits of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. To provide an environment enabling immigrants to not have to learn English is a gross injustice. To deprive an individual countless more opportunities which accompany knowing the English is akin to enslavement.
We the many are protected by the actions of few. Many of us among the many resent the necessity of the few, and will do anything to impugn the character and professionalism, and intelligence of the men and women who serve in our armed forces. Those men and women fight so that those who resent their very existence can have the freedom to voice their poorly veiled resentment. I propose any man or woman who has served their country in the armed forces during a time of armed conflict, whether it be active duty or reserve/guard status to never pay federal income or payroll taxes again. If a person gives his or her life in the line of duty, that tax status is passed on to the surviving spouse and children. What they do is heroic, and they’re paid very little, and appreciated even less by an increasingly self indulgent population. We must never forget what gives a strong nation its strength.
I also propose to put an end to all hate crime legislation. All crime is based on some level of hate, and all criminals should be punished accordingly. I do not condone the physical persecution of any individual based on their race, religious creed, or sexual orientation. I do not consider a preacher, rabbi, Imam preaching homosexuality, drunkenness, or any other lifestyle which goes against those teachings as hate crime. We do not have a right to not be offended. It’s going to happen. I can’t tell a homosexual they can’t be a homosexual, and they cannot tell me that I can’t preach homosexuality as being sinful in accordance to the Bible. Both sides need to get over the fact that the other exists and just get on with their own lives.
It’s time to accept there’s always going to be a segment of the population who is racist, religiously bigoted, and intolerant. Everybody discriminates. You can’t fix these issues through legislation, but through profound changes of the human heart, and that is something that is outside the role of government. It is up to each American living up to his or her potential, and love their American brother or sister regardless of their political, personal, financial differences. That’s the only way to effect the change of the human heart.
Likewise, even Jesus told the apostles there would always be poor among them. There is always going to be poor people. There is always going to be rich people. There is always going to be mobility through the financial classes, both upwards and downwards. That is the way of a free market society. In a government based economy, everybody loses except for the party apparatchik.
For those of you who insist we need change, I will bring change. I will bring change through less federal government, and put the onus back on the state and local levels where it belongs. This means a streamlined government job force and mass transitions to the private sector. This also means across the board tax cuts on all income, and corporate levels. This will take a bear economy and stimulate economic growth. Companies will reinvest their money into their operations resulting in low unemployment, and increased tax revenues.
Once the federal government becomes a lean, mean, efficient machine, we will move to a more fair tax structure. It isn’t the role of the federal government to provide us with all the tools we need, but the basic tools so we can build our own tools. With those, we can realize all of the unlimited potential that is the greatness of our country, and our people.
The federal government needs the people much more than the people need the federal government. Once both sides accept this premise will America come back into its own and realize the greatness that is America. Never apologize for being born American, and never feel guilty for success. People who don’t know how to handle success will ultimately succumb while the seemingly ordinary doing the extraordinary will embrace it and live the American dream.
My detractors will promise the moon if it helps them get elected, convince the voters they with higher taxes and more entitlement programs can right the economic distress our country is in. They will tell you my vision is only helpful to the rich, but I tell you producers make more producers. Those who rely on government entitlement programs consume and are a parasitic drain on the economy. They have been allowed to believe they cannot exist without government intervention, and the only way to equalize the economic outcome is through increased taxes, more entitlement programs. If a person is not willing to work, neither should that person eat.
I have a dirty secret our ruling leaders don’t want you to know. The federal government needs you, the citizens of this great nation more than you have ever needed the government. It is you who make this country great, not the government. The elected don’t want you to know that, because once you realize this fact, you’ll realize you don’t really need your congressman, or senators all that much and they feel vulnerable. They are like dictators, but instead of their main goal of being alive at the end of the day, their main goal is to be re-elected. It should not be easy for our elected officials to be re-elected. It is up to you to hold us accountable. Read the constitution; understand what the role of government is. Study the roles of the legislative, judicial, and executive branches, and decide if they are operating within the confines of this magnificent vision.
It is time for change, it is a time for strength, and it is time to boldly strike against those who suppress liberty, and freedom, and assuage personal responsibility. I only have one thing to ask you, my fellow Americans. I ask you to find what you love, do that as best you can, and lead a happy, productive life. This country will never fail if we each live to our own personal potential. In doing so we will serve others, and in turn, we will be made complete.
Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.
