Write me a poem, you said on the phone,
Not knowing, I guess, what you asked;
Not knowing (I wonder?) that writing a poem
Can be a most difficult task.
A poem, my dear, isn’t easy
To write or, small wonder, to read;
For the writing can make one quite queasy
And the reading, even more so indeed.
A poem has one great shortcoming:
It cannot dissemble or hide.
It is honest and true and forthcoming.
(A thing some, I admit, can’t abide.)
But I’ll write you a poem since you asked me
And I promise that I’ll do my best
To not make it sarcastic or nasty
But it was really a silly request.

I read ur poem and i thought it was really good. it had spunk and it was very easy going and it flowed every easly till the end.

=) This actually makes me giggle, I love how silly and fun it makes the writing of poetry sound. And I love the beat to it, but then if its gonna be a poem about writing a poem, it should have a short rhyme sequence (Im not sure what to call that, hope you understand =p). It almost sounds like a poem you could find in a childrens poetry book somewhere.

liked this one a lot because it seems quirky :)... and I’m sure a lot of writers can relate to people asking them to write something, especially if they know you’re a writer and they always seem to choose a topic that you’re not really comfortable with… any how, its a nice read, don’t really see anything that could be fixed or changed… good job, keep creating nice work…

I’m not a professional but this is a poem for poetry writers to begin and see how poetry really is not to sound on the offensive side its a good poem. This poem can be inspirational to young poetry writers.
