Journal, Diary, & Blogging / Memories

Funny how you can have plans; then in a matter of moments, they are gone.

Thoughts vaporized, ideas dashed.

No, not funny; life.

Life happens, allowing us to have the perception of control.

We are here only for a moment. But in the end, a moment is enough.

That is why we have memories.

That is exactly the way I feel about life. You start out having a plan for everything, your life map or whatever…you think that you can achieve it, but then life bites you in the butt…next thing you know you’re getting older and you realize it’s almost over and you’re just left with memories.

I’m not sure I like the semicolon in the third line.  Also, I think you might need a metaphor or some sort of figurative or rich language stuck in there somewhere.

I think you hit the nail right on the head.  I really like how you worded everything.  I felt identify with it not because I have lost someone in my life but because it covers life in general.

Very well said. I think i would take out life on the fourth stanza and replace it with another word because you use it twice and it messes with the flow.
Not funny—this world.
Life happens, allowing us think we have control…
The above is just a thought. You are right. We come into this life not by choice but because someone made us happen. They tell us that America is free but that is a lie because we have to pay  a price for everything. The control we have is limited. No one tells us that.  We have to find it out as we grow older. Good job, Sandi

This all makes sense, and we can all empathise to some degree with what is written. But it’s just too short, and doesn’t investigate the theme of memories and what they mean to us. Sometimes a short piece like this can bite and finishes with a nice twist, but this reads like a prologue.

I’d like to see it developed more- You have plenty of ideas in these few words.

This completely sums up how I’ve been feeling. I love when you said, “We are here only for a moment. But in the end, a moment is enough.” It almost makes more sense to live moment by moment according to what you said. I very much liked this entry. If someone were meant to critique it, they would find no mistakes, grammatically or in the overall clarity.

Beautiful sentiment! Love the line: “But in the end, a moment is enough.” Is this going to be expanded?

i like this entry but i dont understand why you say “that is why we have memories.” if people live in the moment and a moment is enough, then why would we need memories? wouldnt we be satisfied with the here and now?

i enjoyed the content of this work. having lost loved ones in the past, i can relate. we as humans seem to avoid thinking that someone we love will die, but in the end death comes for us all. this is life. i don’t have any critique for you, since this is a journal/ diary/ blog entry, i really wouldn’t know what to critique. these are your own thoughts, & who am i to say your thinking is wrong? i actually agree with it 100%. in the end, we are all left alone with only our memories.
