Lyrics / Meaning in the Words

as the road winds further
you may look back if you can
but it gets harder to remember
just where the road began

I've turned so many pages in this story
there are so many lessons I have learned
and I don't quite remember how it started
but I keep looking for meaning in the words

as time moves ever forward
and the days turn into years
everything continues changing
from our dreams to all our fears

I've turned so many pages in this story
there are so many lessons I have learned
and I don't quite remember how it started
but I keep looking for meaning in the words

what was true yesterday
is not true now
and the dreams I had
are gone somehow
there's been broken promises
and forgotten vows
but this road keeps going on
yes this road keeps going

I've turned so many pages in this story
there are so many lessons I have learned
and I don't quite remember how it started
but I keep looking for meaning in the words

(but this road keeps going on)
I keep looking for meaning in the words
(yes this road keeps going on)
I keep looking for meaning in the words
(but this road keeps going on)
I hope to find some meaning in the words

I really liked these lyrics.

As I have mentioned before in other lyric critiques, as a person with a hearing impairment.. LYRICS ARE ALL, to me.  I don’t hear the instrumentation anymore and so everythign for a song for me rests on the lyrics first.. I have to know the poetry of them.. before listening to things that I may or may not hear.

I liked the repetition of this, because it accentuates the road in constant motion, the journey of life and continuing ever forward despite the troubles that are encountered.  It really works, I think. :)

It has nearly a feeling of some of the very deep soul moving lyrics of the early 1970’s yet, with the emotion of my generation at the crossroads now.. the 40 something generation.

I appreciated this very very much.

Sorry, but the first thing I noticed was the over-repetition of the Chorus.
Great start.
‘Everything keeps changing\from our dream to all our fears’ seems a bit chunky. Doesn’t flow as well as the rest of the song.
Other than that, fantastic work =)

I like what it means. I think it would be better if “road” was “journey” and you use: the distance I have travel.

It sounds like you are on a road and then it turns into a page of a book. It is good idea. Keep writing.

hi there,

yes..i like it..a song of life..as you stated throughout your lyric/song..life goes on….no matter what may happen or not happen, as we all yurn the page each day..(just as you said)..i think most people will relate to this lyric which might lean toward an older person looking back on their life…:)...i like the v/c/v/c song structure..it works..with the title in the repeating chorus..just where it is suppose to be…alot of lyrics on this site don’t use much song structure…ok,,i yapped enough..nice job, and keep writing..jim
