Poetry / The Reward
THE REWARD
How long have I waited for you?
How long here
In my lonliness
Did I cry out
And no one heard?
One more time I called
Hope against hope
Prayer against prayer
One more time
And this time
There was an answer
The answer was you
For you were searching too
Your heart was listening
Waiting
Hoping for a sound
Would someone call to you?
Would someone need you?
Would someone love you?
A heart, straining
Listening
For anything
In a simple moment
Everything changed
A sound was heard
Yes! There it is again
A real sound
Not the wind this time
But something real
Not just something
But someone
The sound of another heart
Carried on the wind
Of emotion
On the breeze of a dream
Like a hand
That beckons you
To follow, you arise
To follow that sound
To find that heart
That was searching
For only you
I am this way, my love
I whisper
Follow my voice
And you shall find me
A song is here
Waiting to be sung
A life waiting to be lived
Just beyond the ridge, just beyond time
We shall play hide and seek
With our hearts no more
For we have been found
By each other.

Nice contrast of how you were serching and how he was searching too. Then you find each other. The flow of this gets thrown off in a few lines where you repeat words that keep rhyme but through off the flow. It might be just the way I’m reading this, just try to prevent breaking the flow even if it doesn’t rhyme. I really like this because it shows how two people can be pulled together for no rhyme or reason.
