Young Adult / Midnight (rough Draft) (Analysis)

Midnight stood, awaiting her chance to speak to the king and master of where she had found herself to be six months prior. She was now in what was called the land of the dead, or the real name of it 'Celeastia'. The master, the Lord of the Dead, also known as Luciser. Or 'My Lord', to anyone who was servant to him, which now included, Mightnight Loinclaw, princyou ess of Faileaf, the fairy kingdom, or she was until she was killed. It had taken her all this time to travel the Land of the Dead to reach this place. Traveling Celestia was neither easy nor pleasant, it forced you to go though each mistake and sin you made in your life, playing them over as if to torture you. If one did not go crazy, it was said that the journey somehow changed a person.
"Next!" a bored voice called the gaurd of the grand castle yelled out to Midnight as she made her way up the steps " Hurry up there, wench, the lord does not have all day." Midnight glared at the gaurd, before relizing it was her own friend.
"Darkstar?" she whispered, stopping midstride, she was shocked to see him, the gaurd looked at her, his eyes grew wide.
"Midnight...." his voice sounded whisfull, as if remembering the good times they had had when they were 'alive'. "By the Gods...." He looked around and saw another gaurd watching him, he cleared his throught, "Go on." his face became blank and so unlike the man she had known in her life. Tears came to her eyes, remembering what was said about most people who travaled Celestia and knowing that darkstar probably could not have resisted, he never liked staying in one place.
Midnight walked into the dark room where the Lord saw those who seeked him. Looking up she saw the Lord, sitting on a throne in the center of the room. She could not see his features as he sat in darkess, not even a single flame of light shone opon him. Midnight dropped to her knees. She could scence the evil the minute she walked though the doors. Although her powers were weakened as soon as she had died she could still sence evil.
"What is it you seek?" The man on the throne asked. She could hear shock in his voice, it was not often that a female would travel though the land seeking him. He had come to believe women where weak.
"My Lord," she said, head bowed respectfully, " I was killed by a disese, a desiese forced opon me by a curse Arowen of the Elves had opon herself causeing all those she loved to leave her so as she could fulfill her destiny ." She had learned this as she had gone though the lands of the Dead. "But I too have a destiny, to protect my land, Faileaf, the dragons, and my daughter. Send me back to the living to fulfill my duties, and I swear to never speak to Arowen again. I will find allies elsewhere. But please, Lord. For the sake of those who trusted in me. My daughter is under the care of that Arowen, and I must rescue her before she to befalls this fate. She was just born two days before my death, not only is she my daughter, but also the man who stands outside as your gaurd. He died as well, I am soposing, after my own death, please Lord. I am the Dragon Daughter, I have my loyalties."
Luciser was amazed by her braveness, her courage, but most of all her commitment. He looked at her thinking, he knew that her desteny was cut short. "I will grant you wish, Princess of the fairies and dragons, or shall I say queen, as your mother and father are now here in these lands. Not to worry, Midnight," he said as he heard her sharp intake of breath. "Royalty who have served their duties properly have a place here in the kingdom, in the comfort of this castle. Taking their days leasurely as they never got to do in life."
Midnight nearly smiled, so even the Lord of the Dead had a soft spot.
"But I do believe there is something else you want, other than to go back to the living." Her mind drifted back to the gaurd she had seen on her way in. "Ah, I thought so. He is one of my best gaurds, but ah well, what was the saying? True love conqers all."
Midnight blushed, she had never liked the idea of her own softspot. Luciser clapped his hands a nearby slave walked over to him. He whispered to the slave, who proceded to run outside and reenter with a confused looking Darkstar who had aparently not been given all the facts. His usually soft features had hardened from the torture he had seen in this land. His soft blue eyes were now an icey blue, a hint of fear and desperation hidden behide it.
"Yes my lord?" He said, taking a knee, whie not allowing himself to take a glance at Midnight.
"I believe you know this maiden?" Answered Luciser
"Yes, my Lord."
"Would you perchance like to accompany her back to the land of the living?"
A shocked look overcame his face, "Y-yes my lord."
"Midnight if this is what you truly want then I challenge you to a duel. If you win, you get as you please, but if I win then I get you, here as my slave, do we have a deal?"
Midnight looked over at Darkstar, who still refused to look up, her mind drifting over her land, then she looked up into the face of her Lord. "We have a deal."
"What is your choice of weapon?" he asked. Midnight smiled, she knew this one. She had practiced hours a day with this particular weapon, and although she had not held it in her had for months, she knew she still had skill and wisdom.
"My weapon of choice is a sword." she replied, strongly and loudly. Luciser flew from his thone, his cloak flapping in the breeze. He stood before her and clapped his hands. The room shifted, it became larger. Candles flared up lighting the intire room. Darkstar flew back and was inchained to the wall as to he could not interfere.
For the first time Midnight saw Luciser's face, and it would haunt her in her nightmares for years to come. His face did not hold just one form but transformed from creature to creature, all bloody and gory. There was a dark elf, a werewolf, Violet, Midnight's aunt. His face did not hold only one of these at a time, but mixed them into grotesque combinations. Midnight gulped, lifting the sword that had suddenly appreared in her hands.
"Now!" Luciser rose his sword and swung at her head, hoping to have suprized her and easily won the match. Unfortunetly for him, she had seen war and battles, had been there and fought, for she skillfully blocked his swing. He swung again and again, trying to wear her out, so he could win, but each swing barly fased as she blocked each one. Until she miss calculated a swing, and a gash was torn open on her leg.
"Ready to give up now?" Luciser hissed at her.
"I never give up." she swung, backing up a bit. He swung again, and missed, she gave her sword a flick, and his sword flew from his hands, "Sword fighting is not really your thing is it?" she asked.
"GO!" Luciser yelled, clapping his hands yet again. There was a flash of light and Midnight and Darkstar were spinning wildly though the air. Midnight felt sick, just like when she had died. She closed her eyes as she felt life swarm back though her body. She felt her fingers and feet tingleing, as a wave of nausia passed though her, and the just like that, she felt her feet hit hard ground. She stumbled and fell to the ground, scraping her knee.
Looking around it took Midnight a minute to relise where they were. They where near the entrance to the castle. Six months of abaondonment had worn the old thing a bit. The large gardens were overgrown with weeds, Broken tree limbs were stuck in widows and one had crashed though the stable roof the entery gate was hanging off its hinges. No one had bothered to do any kind of repaires, just leaving it as it was as now this land was part of the Elven kingdom. Midnight looked up and saw a sign, which read Fairroan. That was defiently not the name of this Kingdom. Midnight sighed, it was time to regain her position as the princess, or was it the queen now?
