Not bad, and I like how it embodies the idea of a ‘starving writer’; even if you do something fantastic, getting reimbursed for it is a little trickier.
I’d suggest altering it to “Wrote great novel. Did not sell,” because they are both already fragments and the ‘no sale’ is a little too ambiguous. Also, it balances it a bit better.

Got a chuckle from me. This may be choosen but I think this can be better.
My suggestion for improvement is to compact this even more so you can add more punch to it. Take out “wrote a” and find two more words that make this more poignant and harder hitting.

I think this is exactly what Smith is looking for. It tells the story, incorporates the essential ambiguity they like to see, and is a common experience that everyone on URBIS & SMITH can relate to. Nice shot.
