I can relate to this piece. I love the simplicity of it and yet also, how, it applies so much to life. I’m sure everybody knows this feeling and you have it represented it well even through so few words.

Ain’t that the truth.
The only thing I would say about the chosen words is that the ‘f’ in ‘wonderful’ ties up the tongue just long enough to rush the next ‘f’ in ‘flow’
I wouldn’t normally point out such a peculiar detail but this challenge has called forth the stickler.
Funny; I liked your word choices, the surprise of your “finale”—it flows very well as a piece, and comes with just the right amount of ironic humor.
“Wonderful” is a pretty generic and vague modifier. “Stanch” is the less-often used spelling of “staunch,” so I’d recommend using the more common spelling. Since “staunch” is often used with blood or tears, this is a pretty good word. Think you should keep that word and play with the other five to try and get a stronger image. Good luck.
I enjoyed this entry, the misleadingly cheery beginning led to a pleasantly dark end.
Like a lot of things.
It is also a memoir.
This seems to be rare.
