Short Story / My Life (Analysis)

I really like the way that you sum up what life is, changeable and varied. Very clear and descriptive, a positive piece.

This clearly talks about your life, unlike many I have read.  It is nice.  To be published, however, I feel it could use a little more oompf.  Thank you for the privilege of reading and reviewing your work.

I’m going to critique this as a poem, because it reads more as such than as a short story.  As with some other entries, this seems to provide more of a list than an idea or thought on your life.  You lose a little clarity and focus in my reading when you use the word “boring”, as all the other words you chose are anything but.  If you want to say “boring”, I’d suggest finding a way to balance the list portion as a list of contrasts—i.e., “boring” contrasts well with “exciting”, but “creative” and “hectic” don’t contrast on the same level.

Why not try revealing a little more?  Find an image that describes you and your writerly self, and run with it.

It’s all right, but it reads like a list rather than a poem or story. It doesn’t really tell me much about you or your creative process, just a list of very broad characteristics that can be applied to anyone. I think you’ve got to be more creative with this, and don’t be afraid to open your wings a little. :)

Good nutshell of your life. Hopefully the boring allows some respite from the exciting, creative hectic times!
