Hmm…. futility wasn’t exactly what I was going for. If it was futile, I’d have given up on the cycle long ago. Really all its talking about is the cycle that I go through as a writer, neverending, but not futile.

What exactly do you mean? Where’s the confusion? It’s talking about the constant cycle I go through in my creative life: frustration at a piece that’s not working out or at having no good ideas or whatever, to elation when I finally get something to work or get a new idea, and then it starts all over again when I hit another wall. When you say that you don’t understand where I’m coming from, do you mean you don’t relate to that feeling, or you don’t understand what I meant?
