Young Adult / Chapter Two of Under the Midnight Moon

CHAPTER 2
TOM

I was relived when Nick took me back home. I liked him and all but for some reason I didn’t feel like talking to him ever again. When I walked through the door Terri was perched on the couch in her pajamas watching TV with Donavan.
“So how did it go?” She asked interestedly. I frowned at her and carried my things up to my room. I was so not in the mood to talk to anyone else that night. I wasn’t angry or upset I don’t know what was wrong with me. Terri followed me up the stairs and into my room where I threw all my things into the closet and fell on my bed.
“What happened? Did Nick do something to you?” She asked setting down next to me. I stared up at the ceiling hoping that if I ignored her long enough she would go away, but she didn’t she sat on my bed staring at me waiting for me to tell her what happened at the fair.
“Well we played all the games and rode all the rides. Then he dragged me to the ride called the Scat. That was the worst thing that I have ever done and trust me I will never do that again,” I told her. I waited for her reaction she looked at me curiously so I continued.  “I guess that it was my fault really. Nick and I were both up at the top at the Ferris wheel and he, well, he tried to kiss me but I kind of back out I moved away before he could kiss me.” She smiled at me.
“When Don first tried to kiss me I dumped my soda all over him. I was so embarrassed after that.” She told me giggling like a maniac. I still wasn’t convinced I knew that I had messed up and Nick probably didn’t want to see me ever again. Terri got up off of my bed and stood on the floor staring at me.
“Don’t let it bug you. it’ll blow over soon. Good night Kelsy.” She hugged me then left me alone with my thoughts swirling around in my head. I laid there on my bed staring up at the ceiling unsure of my emotions. All of the sudden I realized that all I wanted was to go home back to Colorado where I belonged.  That night I plotted out how I was going to go home, I wasn’t worried about money I had plenty of that, I was more worried about where I was going to stay.
The next morning I was the first one to wake up it was around four-thirty when I got up.  There was an hour left until Donavan would get up to go to work. It was the perfect time to sneak out and run off back to Colorado. I thought about taking a suitcase of my things but then I realized that it would only slow me down.
So taking only the necessary-my wallet, id and license- I decided that it was time to leave, hopefully for good.
As I went downstairs I noticed that the lights in the kitchen were on. I went to investigate running into Terri on the way in.
“Oh hey sis! What are you doing up this early?” She asked me. Her eyes were red and puffy, I could tell that she had been crying.
“What’s wrong?” I asked her. She smiled bleakly at me. I could tell that she was upset about something.
“They called me around three this morning, my boss did, and I have to leave on a plane around ten so I can be in Los Angeles by tomorrow afternoon.” She told me. I stared at the floor.
“But we can go see a movie today though! Along with some other things if you want.” She said to me excitedly. I faked a smile at her. I knew that I was trapped there was no way I would be able to get out of the house or even make it to the airport with Terri being awake.  I went back up to my room after talking to Terri and flopped back on my bed. After a few minutes of laying there I was staring to fight to keep my eyelids open. I could feel the sleep slowly settling in and eventually it won.
I woke up around noon to and empty house. I walked downstairs half expecting to find Terri waiting for me so we could go see a movie. But there was only one problem, she wasn’t anywhere in the house. I tried her cell phone four or  five time but it went straight to her voice mail. I went into the kitchen to find something to eat, I made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and settled down in a chair at the table to eat. That’s when I noticed the note on the refrigerator door. I got up and tore it off the door. It read:
        Dear Kels,
I would have woke you up but you were sleeping so I called a few friends and we’re going up to Seattle for a few hours. Don will be home around eight or nine. We’ll go see a movie later tonight your pick!
                                                                Love Terri

I frowned when I read her note, she had taken off without me, at least we were still going to the movies that night. I hurried and ate then went outside to investigate my surroundings. The sky was dark and sort of creepy looking as I walked into the forest that surrounded the house. For summer it was a cool day, there was a slight breeze and it was misting some.
I started to follow the trail that led me here and there it ended up leading me back to the house within half and hour. I started on the trail again but this time I went straight instead of following it.
There was a lot of fallen tree branches blocking certain areas so I had to find away to go around them, most of the time I ended up just crawling over them. I soon found myself by a small brook I sat down and just I stared at the clear clean water. A few fish swam by splashing around as they went on with their lives without a care.
I felt calm for the first time in a long time it was as if that certain area of the forest was a safe place,  my haven.
“Hey what are you doing here?” A rough but friendly voice asked me. I jumped to my feet and turned around. A boy taller than me, about the same age as me stood scowling. I felt a little worried at first until he started smiling. I didn’t feel like I was in any danger or anything, but I kept my distance anyways.
“I’m sorry did I scare you? I didn’t mean to,” He said.   “I’m Tom Brown nice to meet you. I’m guessing that you’re Kelsy  North am I right?” I was still quite frightened to the point  that I couldn’t speak so I just nodded.
“Yeah well my dad and Sheriff Smith know each other quite well. He comes over every once in a while and stays for dinner. Sometimes he brings his wife too.” He just kept talking even though I wasn’t listening. I was looking at him I just wasn’t listen to him. Tom was cute I had to admit, he was tall and dark, His crow black hair was chin length and straight, and  the shirt that he wore showed off his muscular chest.
“So what are you doing in the forest alone don’t you know that it’s not a good idea to be alone out here?” He asked me sternly breaking my concentration on his body.
“What’s the problem it’s not like there’s monsters out here.” I snapped at him. He frowned at me.        “You’d be surprised on what you’d find out here.” He said staring at me darkly.
“So then if it’s so dangerous then why are you out here by yourself?” He grinned at me in a way that made me uncomfortable.
“Because I’m not scared by what approaches me it‘s the other way around.” I couldn’t tell if he was being serious or if he was joking. He walked over to where I was and sat down  he patted the spot next to him waiting for me to sit down.
“So why did you move here anyways?” He asked me. I stared at the water wondering what to say.
“Back in Colorado there was an incident that left me parentless so my sister Terri brought me here to live.” I glanced at Tom, he was staring at me in curiosity.         “Do you mind if I ask what happened?”  He asked me. I grimaced, the pain of what happened back in Grand Junction was still a sore point and I myself wasn’t even sure what had really happened.
“It’s okay you don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to I’m sorry that I brought it up.” He apologized. I shook my head he didn’t need to apologize to me.        “No it’s fine. I’m really not sure what happened back there but I was in the hospital for a few days thanks to some freak that tried to rip out my throat.” I said. Tom stared at me wide-eyed.

“You were bitten why would they do that?”  I shrugged.
        “Can I see it?”
“Sure.” I pulled my hair back reveling a huge scar that was on the side of my throat.
“It been healing quickly and most of my cuts don’t do that.” I told Tom. He still wide eyed and I was starting to think that the size of the wound left him speechless. We talked for a while and by the time it was time to leave I really started to like Tom.
I checked my watch it was six-fifteen I had left a little around one-thirty. Time had passed so quickly in the forest while Tom and I were talking. I stood up and stretched my legs were numb from sitting so still for so long.
“What’s wrong?” He asked me worriedly standing up his self he had tensed up.
“Nothing it’s just time for me to head home it’s getting late.” I told him pointing at my watch. He calmed down and smiled at me.
“So do you want to meet me here again or should I come over and pick you up?” He asked me slyly. I smiled and rolled my eyes.
“How old are you?” I asked. If he was over eighteen Terri would have a fit.
“Oh I’m twenty,” He said smiling.        “Just joking. I’m seventeen why how old are you?” He asked me mockingly.
“I’m sixteen. And I know I’m short for a sixteen year old.” I said in a matter-of-fact tone. Tom ignored it and grabbed me by my waist pulling me closer to him until I was where I could just lean my head on his muscular chest.
“No your just the right size for me.” He laughed. He had his strong arms around me holding me tightly and in a way I felt safe.
“So you never answered my question meet here or shall I pick you up?” I wanted so badly to lean my head on him but I resisted and thought about his question.         “You know I’m not letting you go until you answer right?”  I pushed myself back from him to where I could look up into his face.
“Why do you want to pick me up?” I asked arching my brow.
“It’s a surprise. but I promise that I will bring you home as soon as you want to go.” I thought about it for a second then nodded.
“Okay that sounds good.” I told him.
He smiled and let me go even though I didn’t want him to.
“So I’ll pick you up around two then alright?” I nodded then took a few steps towards the thick cluster of trees that hid Terri’s house from my view.
“I’ll walk you back to your house it’s not a good idea to walk alone at this time of day.” He grabbed my waist again and pulled me close to him again. I didn’t complain I actually liked Tom a lot more than Nick or Kameron.
We reached Terri’s house a little past seven it took forever because I was so slow and I kept tripping over everything in sight.  When we reached the house I saw Terri’s truck sitting in the drive way and the porch light was on.
“You want come with me so my sister won’t freak out?” I whispered to Tom. He let go of my waist and held my hand.
“Yeah let’s go.” We walked up onto the porch and right before we got to the door it swung open. Before us was Terri eyes red and filled with tears. As soon as she saw me she grabbed me and hugged me tightly.
“Where have you been? Didn’t you know how worried I am? I called Don and told him that I thought you got lost in the forest! Oh my gosh I’m so glad that you’re alright though! I don’t know what I would do if I lost you!” I started to feel really bad now for not leaving a note.
“I didn’t mean to scare you Terri I didn’t think that I would be in the forest as long as I was but I met Tom and we talked for a while and I sort of lost track of time” I explained. Tom backed me up thank goodness.
“It’s really my fault Terri I shouldn’t have kept her in there so long. I’m sorry.” Terri’s eyes shifted over to Tom. She smiled at him.
“It’s alright Tom but thank you for keeping her safe I know that I can trust you and count on you to protect her if she needed it.” I rolled my eyes Terri could be so dramatic at times.
“Okay then speaking of  trusting me I want to ask you something.” Terri crossed her arms as if she knew what was coming.
        “Shoot.”
“Well I was wondering if I could take her out tomorrow is that alright?” Terri smiled at him.
“I’m not going to be here tomorrow and she’ll need someone to keep an eye on her so I think that’ll be fine if it‘s alright with her.” Tom grinned at me knowing that I had told him yes already.
“Well I got to go I’m sure that my dad will be worried about where I am. See you tomorrow Kelsy!” He said as he waved good bye. I waved back at him then marched into the house to face my punishment.
“So am I grounded or what?” I asked. Terri looked at me in amazement.
“Why would I ground you? For going off into the forest without leaving a note?
I’m just glad that you met Tom in there at least I know that you’re safe with him. Now about that movie do you feel like going to see something or would you just rather stay at home?” She asked. I didn’t want to stay at the house. I went upstairs to my room and changed to go when I came back downstairs Terri was sitting on the couch waiting for me.
“So what’s playing tonight? I haven’t been to a movie in a long time.”  I said. She picked up a newspaper and thumbed through a few pages.   “Here.” She said handing me the paper. I didn’t know any of the movies that were playing so I just picked out the one I thought that sounded the best.
“What’s Land of the Dead about?” I asked her. She put on a thoughtful look for a second.                “It’s supposed to be about a city that is still full of people that survived the zombies and then the zombies attack the city putting it in chaos. Haven’t you ever seen Dawn of the Dead? It‘s supposed to be a really good movie though.” I nodded it was the one that I wanted to see. We left half an hour before the movie started so we could get some good seats and snack the entire time.
The movie wasn’t that bad but there were a lot of  gory  parts in it that I tried to keep myself from throwing up on.  It was a crazy movie at the end I had to cover my ears and close my eyes when the zombies broke their nails off when they were scratching the side of the tank. After all that I felt like I was going to puke.
“Are you alright Kels? You don’t look so good you think that you’re well enough to go out and eat?” She asked me. I nodded I was hoping that any food I took in would stay down that night.  On the way out I thought that I saw Josh and Aziz coming out of the movie but when I looked again they were no where to be seen.
We ate out at the local restaurant by then I still didn’t feel any better than before. The food was good it was just the point of keeping it down that worried me. By the time we got home I was exhausted.
“Wait a second Kelsy,” Terri said stopping me in my tracks just feet away from the way up to my precious bed.         “There’s stuff for you in the kitchen.” She told me. I really didn’t care I just wanted to go to bed. I trudged into the kitchen anyhow just so I didn’t hurt her feelings. All over the table and on the floor was covered in shopping bags full of things that Terri had bought me. I picked up one and peered inside, there was a whole bag full of new clothes. Just like that my longing to go to sleep was gone.
I tried on all the clothes that Terri had gotten me, my favorite being the purple Hot Topic pants, a spiked black belt with a huge skull for a belt buckle, and a purple corset-like shirt that matched the pants.
Terri ended up getting me a 6 disk CD player a whole bunch of new CDs. The things that really surprised me was the new TV it was small but it would work-not like I really would watch it anyways- and she also got me a DVD player with some new movies.
“Blood and Chocolate? What’s that about?” I asked her. She rolled her eyes at me.
“Did you not have a life back in Colorado or what? It’s a werewolf movie I love it it’s a romance sort of. I didn’t know what kind of movies that you liked and since you seem to take after me so much I figured that you would like weird movies like me.” I loved how the cover of it looked it really did look like a good movie.  The others that she got me were Underworld, Dracula, and Interview With a Vampire. I noticed that all of them were about vampires, werewolves or both.
Afterwards Terri helped me carry everything up to my bedroom and put everything away and set everything that needed setting up in place. She picked up Underworld and held it up to me.
“I suggest that if you watch any of the movies that you watch this one first I think that it’s the best.” I took it from her and read the back of it. It seemed like it would be a good movie but I had seen enough movies for the night I would probably watch it tomorrow but I was ready to go to bed. I turned off my light and let my music play in the new CD player as I slowly drifted to sleep.
That night I had the strangest dream that I had ever had. Tom and I were in the forest walking side by side. There was a clearing that we walked to it was cold and for some reason Tom felt like he was on fire. It was a quiet night nothing made any noise it was as if the world was asleep. Tom turned and faced me his dark eyes glowing with a golden color that frightened me. He suddenly stared coldly at something over my shoulder. I turned my head and saw Josh standing in the shadows glaring at Tom I could hear him hissing. I looked back at Tom fearfully but he was smiling and not a goofy grin. It was a evil grin that made me want to run to Josh. He shook his head at me as if he was reading my mind warning me not to run anywhere. Tom put his hand  on the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him. He ran his hand down to the side where my scar from where I had been bitten. I tilted my head to the side exposing my neck when I did Josh’s growling got even louder. Tom bent over putting his lips to my throat kissing it. He let out a howl I noticed that his teeth were pointed as he bit into my throat. I screamed in pain as he bit down even harder.
Suddenly I woke up screaming into my pillow. I looked at my clock on the nightstand Nine-thirty. Half an hour before Terri left. I peeked downstairs, the TV was still on so I went back to my room and closed the door.
I was terrified I had to leave before my dream soon became a reality I was frightened for my life I needed to go back to Colorado where I was safer. I knew that leaving through the front door was no use and Terri would probably stop me. I walked over to my window and opened it. It was raining again but this time it was raining harder and there was thunder and lighting.
I took one look around the room hoping that I wouldn’t come back ever. I climbed out of the window carefully because the roof was slick from all the rain. I made my was towards the tree on the left side of the house and jumped on it gripping the branches holding as tightly as possible. My foot slipped and I went tumbling down the tree hitting most of the branches then the hard wet ground.

I had the breath knocked out of me and it took a few minutes to get it back. I sat up trying to keep my conciseness fighting the darkness that wanted to overtake me. My ribs were hurting and my arm wouldn’t move. I quickly got up and sticking with the shadows made my way to the road. Then I ran as fast as I could away from the town, away from Tom, Nick, and away from the creepy Daniels children that glared at me.
The rain came down in sheets each one hitting me in the face hurting me worst than the one before it. I soon found myself at a bridge with the water roaring underneath it. I felt strange a sharp jolt of electricity ran through my fingertips I turned around dreading who might be behind me.
Sure enough there was a black Mustang driving though the rain coming towards me. I started running as fast as I could trying to get away from whoever might be driving the Mustang even though I knew who it possibly was. I ran as fast as I could and when I turned around the Mustang was out of sight I was glad. I stopped running and started to walk that’s when the car appeared right in front of me. I almost screamed but I didn’t have enough energy to, I turned around the other way and started to run again. Josh‘s Mustang appeared in front of me again. I stopped running once again and started screaming as he go out and started walking towards me. By then I had fell to the ground and was curled up into a ball there was no way to escape him. He walked towards me then crouched down in front of me I was shivering from the fear and the rain not to mention that I was still trying to fight off the darkness that was becoming more powerful with every second that passed.
What are you do out here in the rain this late?” He asked me. He was staring at me in confusion waiting for me to answer his question.
His short dark  spiked hair was staring to flatten out as the rain weighted it down. His light blue eyes looked into mine. I couldn’t breath his eyes were so hypnotizing.
“Are you alright can you breathe?“ He asked me. I tried my best to nod.
He stood up and for a second and looked around then crouched back down to where I was. I was shaking worse than before but this time I was unsure from what.
“Do you have idea where you are?” He kept it coming with the questions.  I shook my head I had just wanted to leave. His hand reached out and stroked my face; his hand was freezing cold but for some reason I felt safe.
“I think I should probably take you home.” He whispered. His voice was so soft and sweet I thought that I had died and this was heaven and he was one of the angels. I nodded in agreement as he picked me up with ease. While he took me back to his car I noticed that he was freezing cold as if he wasn’t alive, it was like he was a walking corpse. The thought sent a shiver down my spine as I remembered the dream.
I realized that the darkness that I was fighting off had almost taken over so I just finally gave up and let it sweep over me. But before I did I grabbed Josh’s hand not wanting to let go afraid that he wasn’t real.
“She’ll be fine just don’t let her move around too much.” I heard a warm voice say. I opened my eyes and found myself looking at the most handsome man I had ever seen.

                     *

“Ah it looks like she’s came around!” He said smiling at me. I tried to move but the man made me be still.    “Oh no dear you shouldn’t move. You seemed to have broken at few ribs and your arm.” At first I thought that he was joking I moved both of my arms but a sharp pain shot up my left, which was in a sling, making me grimace at the pain. Terri’s face appeared suddenly.
“What on earth were you doing Kelsy! I went to your room to check on you and you were gone and the window was wide open!”  I looked around the room, Donavan was frowning at me, Terri was glaring at me, and Josh was sitting in the shadows watching me curiously.
“Where am I?” I asked. Terri looked up at the man.
“She has no concussions she’s probably confused how long has she been here?”  He asked Terri.
She didn’t take her eyes off of me it was as if she looked away that I would take off again.
“Two days.” She told him calmly.
“So see she’s probably just not used to the place yet.” He suggested. Terri didn’t look convinced.  “She’s been in the hospital once already I just don’t want to see her have to go back.” She told the man.
By now I was starting to guess that he was a doctor.
“What for?” Josh asked. Terri turned to him.
“Yes what for?” The man asked.
“She was attacked by a man and he bit her. She lost a lot of blood from it is what the doctors in Colorado told me.” She explained to the man. He nodded then glanced at me that’s when I noticed that his eyes were the same as Josh’s, that golden color. He stood up grabbing all his equipment as he did.
“Well Josh I think that it’s time for us to head home.” He said putting a hand on Josh’s shoulder.
“Um… Dr. Daniels?” Terri said as she herself stood up.
“Victor if you please.” He corrected.
“Victor, can I have a word with you?” She asked. He nodded.

Terri motioned towards the kitchen, Donavan got up too and followed them leaving me all alone with Josh.
“How do you feel?” He asked me.
“Confused just a bit, what happened?”
“They think that you fell in the road and broke a few bones.”
I nodded I knew that much I just didn‘t remember how I had gotten on the couch. Victor, Terri, and Donavan all came out of the kitchen before I could say anything else to Josh.
After Victor and Josh left Terri had Donavan carry me up the stairs, I protested the whole way up.
“Terri I broke my arm and some ribs, I think that I can walk up the stairs. You don’t need to make Donavan do this.” But Terri shook her head and wouldn’t listen to me. Donavan left the room as Terri helped me change out of the still rain-soaked clothes and into my warm pajamas. The pain was unbearable but I showed no signs that I was in pain. After that she helped me get into bed and sat at the end like she did when I was in the hospital. Terri told me good night after that even though I wasn’t listening to her and turned off my light.
The rest of that night was horrible, what sleep I got was full of nightmares and the rest of the time I was wide awake scared or thinking. Josh and Tom popped in and out of my mind while I was thinking and dreaming.
I woke up around two screaming Josh’s name.
I couldn’t remember what happened in the dream but I do remember that what happened to me was horrible.  By four o’clock I finally fell into a dreamless sleep.  I woke around one the next day I struggled with my clothes letting my cries from the pain escape.  After fifteen minutes of struggling to put on my clothes I went downstairs.
There was no one in the house at all  I then remembered  that Tom was supposed to be coming over sometime to pick me up.  I walked into the kitchen and looked through the cabinets for something to eat. I pulled out  some cereal and the milk I opened the cabinet for the bowls and after reaching for a minute I gave up and grabbed a chair to stand on. It took a second to get up on it considering how one hand was out of use and the other was used to keep myself from falling off of the chair. I managed to get a bowl from the shelf but now I had no grip on anything to keep myself from falling backwards as I started to get off the chair. I tripped and fell backwards screaming on the way.
I heard a loud thud and I found myself on the floor in Tom’s arms protecting me. I didn’t move I was waiting for Tom to release me first.
“Are you alright? I didn’t hurt your arm did I?” He asked me. My heart was pounding from the fear and from the position that I was in right then.
“Yeah I’m alright. What made that thud?” Tom released and helped me to my feet and offered me a chair.  “That would have been my head hitting the table when I caught you.” My eyes widened as I scanned his head expecting to see blood dripping down his face.
“Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?” I asked all panicky. Tom just smiled at me and shook his head.  “No I’m fine no blood see I’m not going to die.” He rubbed his head with his hand and held it out for me to see. I still wasn’t convinced I walked over to him and checked his head myself, but as he had assured me there was no blood.
“Satisfied?  Can I have my head back now?” He joked. His green eyes twinkled as I stared at him in wonder. I sat down in the chair across the table from him and put my head down on it. I was in pain but I was trying to hold my cries back from Tom, but he still seemed to know that something was wrong. He moved over to where I was and sat down next to me laying a hand on my shoulder as he did. His hand was warm and it made me shiver but I liked how he had a gentle touch.
“I didn’t hurt you when I caught you did I?” I raised my head and looked him in the eyes, he had gotten closer than I had expected.  “No I’m fine it’s just that my arm is throbbing.” I told him.
He pulled back my chair moving behind me.  “What are you doing?”
I asked him a little worried. He smiled at me.
“Something. Whatever you do don’t seize up or try to get away.” He told me joking. I sat in the chair perfectly still waiting to see what he was going to do. He got behind me and rubbed my shoulder and some of my back.        “Is the pain gone?” He asked. I nodded, surprisingly the pain was gone.
He smiled at me showing his perfectly straight white teeth.
“Now don’t fight me because I would hate to have to drop you.” He warned me. Before I knew it he had picked me up out of the chair and had taken me into the living room. He had done it so quickly I was breathless, I couldn’t breathe at all.  He sat me down on the couch and plopped down next to me.
“How did you do that?” I asked him. He shrugged and stared down at the floor.        “I’m just really fast.” He snatched up the remote and turned the TV on ended the conversation before it even got started.
“ So I heard about what happened last night. My only question is what were you thinking I was planning on doing something fun but thanks to you we can‘t! I also heard that Josh Daniels brought you home.” Tom said in a tone that made me wonder if he was another that didn‘t like the Daniels.
“Yeah I thought about climbing through your window and kidnapping you and taking you to my house but what would Josh say I think that he would get mad. I think that you would like that though wouldn‘t you?”  I knew that he was teasing but it made me mad. I jumped off the couch and stood in front of him glaring;  he knew I was mad at him by the look on my face.   “Calm down Kelsy I was joking no need to get mad at me. Whoa! Your eyes just changed color!” He said calmly staring at me. I glanced down at the floor.
“What color are they?” I asked a little frightened.
“Their light blue and they were just brown. There’s only one reason for that.” He said. The last part he muttered under his breath and I knew that what ever reason that was it wasn’t natural. Tom stood up in front of me and slipped his hand under my chin forcing me to look up into his handsome face, into those gorgeous, green eyes. His eyes were safe and clam I felt like I was falling, I was in a place with no worries, without a past, a safe place where Tom would protect me no matter what happened. I fell against his strong chest my face buried in his neck. He smelled good, it was a familiar scent that I couldn’t quite remember, but I liked. I was starting to get comfortable with his arms around me. Then he suddenly tensed up pushing me back softly so not to hurt me.
“I’m sorry,” I looked up at him. I was staring to get confused, Tom wasn’t making any sense.    “I’m going outside for a little bit stay in here and try your best not to get hurt.” He said as he walked towards the door.
I was shaking he had scared me just a little bit the way that he pushed me back so quickly.
I  walked up the stairs and made my way to my room hoping that after what had happened Tom wouldn’t mess with me either because I was upstairs or because I was in my room. I turned on my CD player and popped in a CD and waited while it loaded.
My attempt to avoid Tom didn’t work so well because after about ten minutes he knocked on my door.
“What do you want?” I asked rudely. I was lying on my bed with my eyes closed listening to the music that was playing.
“Mudvayne? I like them but I have to say that Six X A.M. is a little bit better.” I heard  Tom say. I opened my eyes he was standing by my window staring down at something outside.
“What do you want?” I asked again this time I was a little more impatient. Tom walked over to my bed and sat down at the end of it.
“I was just wanting to say that I’m sorry for the way that I acted. I shouldn’t have pushed you back like that I didn’t mean to hurt you I would never hurt you. I promise that as long as I live I will be your Protector.” He said. He was sitting on my bed next to me holding me in his arms. I didn’t want him to push me away this time so I slid off of the bed standing up to where I was facing him.
“So what were you planning for us to do today?” I asked him. He grinned his goofy grin at me.

“Well we were going to go to the reservation and go swimming but since you got hurt that’s sort of out of the question.”
“Don’t worry I tend to heal fast.” I assured him. He looked at me a little worried he took my hands into his it was as if he was afraid that I would disappear.  I noticed that the difference of temperature between Tom’s and Josh’s hands was amazing.
“I had a back up plan in case you didn’t want to go swimming and it doesn’t involve anything with danger, but with your arm you’d still have to be careful.” I looked at him hopeful.
        “When and where?”
“Around seven tonight and it’s on at the camping grounds at the lake.” He told me. I rolled on my bed and groaned, seven was too long for me I wanted to go right then and there.
“Is there anything else to do?” He asked me. I looked up at the new TV and DVD player.
“How fond of you of vampire and werewolf movies?” I asked him.
He shrugged.         “I guess that I like them just not a lot why?”
“Because I just thought of a way to pass sometime.” I told him.  I got up and picked up the movie that Terri had suggested that I watch the last night and put it in. Tom had to help me with the DVD player because I had never had one and didn’t know how to use it. We watched all of them except one I was planning on saving the Blood and Chocolate movie for last. By the time we had almost finished Dracula Tom said that it was time to go.
Tom suggested that we get there early so I changed into the clothes that I had liked so much tom stared at me open mouthed.
“What? Does it look bad? Should I go change?” I asked all panicky. Tom took my hand and pulled me over to him.
“No I like it… it’s just that…wow! I’ve never seen a girl look so good in those kind of clothes before.” He told me breathlessly. I blushed surely he didn’t think that I was hot with a broken arm and ribs did he?
“I‘m so sure that I look that good with a broken arm. Can we go now?”
“We have to stop by my house so I can change too. I don’t want to be caught at the party in my work clothes.” He said. We went outside to where his   65 Chevy was sitting, he reached the passenger door before me and held the door open for me then we headed towards his house.

‘Didn’t you know how worried I am’ is the one thing that sticks out at me. It’s a sore thumb, a habit that is hard to break. I still do it too. Tenses, when and where to change them or which to use when. Brutally honest, the dialogue is weak and corny. The flow is even worse, I had to reread several parts just to follow the story. The biggest suggestion, work on describing the environment. You can say simple things like ‘an office.’ What happens when someone says ‘a blue office.’ It just got more interesting. ‘Vertical blinds cast rays of light onto a solid oak desk.’ Simple office that as a writer, I just set a mood and described an environment. I suggest going through your idea again and add elements of description, something more than just “it was raining again.” She slid across a slippery roof and fell out of a tree. Not very exciting to read the way it is presented. Yet a very painful experience. Try “The shingles provided little traction. I wrapped my hands around a slippery ash tree branch, but this was obviously a bad idea. The tips of my fingers held me precariously above the hard ground. I slipped, cold air rushed around my face and a branch came out of nowhere breaking my fall. Searing pain blinded me for a moment but I had to get out of this place.” Etc, you get the idea, more description gives the readers brain a workout which is stimulating and addictive.
