Criticism / Defining Truth (Analysis)
When I have pondered truth in the past, I have often wandered what does it truly mean. Many different factions have attempted to define truth and make it into a universal genetic process. Governments have attempted to rule by it but fail because they themselves cannot truly comprehend the word itself. Religious orders have claimed to process the key to it yet they place restraints of the very steps of reaching such a goal. Other orders and factions just build an illusion of what they think it is and sell it as gold. In my short time in this life I have come to realize that all these factions have only half truths which still makes what they have a lie, within my view. I have began to realize that truth is an individual experience connected to the collection of truths within a vast and uncomprehendable (on a grand scale level) universe. Truth is being in order but in order from within so that existence in harmony could persist with the rest of the universe. It is so complex yet so simple to define this thing called truth. It blows my mind how it has no explanation, because it has been searched for so long by so many. Religious sects spend lifetimes in searching for it; governments have claimed to have instilled it within their structure. What is truly this thing called truth? Why is it such an unreachable jewel? How does such a word carry such a heavy load? I cannot say I can answer these questions. If I do, it will mean nothing to anyone but me. If anything you may have more questions.
Many feel the way to comprehend anything, it must have a definition. Its purpose must be defined. So it is logical to look at the definition of truth according to the various dictionaries.
Truth (trooth) n.
1- Conformity to knowledge, fact, or actuality; versaity.
2- Something that is the case; the real state of affairs.
3- Reality; actuality
4- A statement proven to be or accepted as true.
5- Sincerity; honesty
Since I have used five different definitions I feel it is fitting for me to share, view or how I feel about them one at a time. The first definition states ‘Conformity to knowledge, fact, or actuality; veracity. Alright the first word puts me at ease. When the word conformity is used, it brings it to a foreign view, that I usually perceive as unnatural on an individual basis. Also conformity is usually effective and used on a grand scale. Seen in governmental tactics, dictorships and in major religions in the world that has a centralized leadership or plainly the denial of free thinking. To continue with this definition ‘conformity to knowledge’; Knowledge is obtainable by many and on several different levels. Yet I really don’t see conforming to it, I think acknowledgement would be preferred with knowledge. The knowledge that could possibly be obtained is based on opinion and not necessarily truth. To conform to knowledge, is to conform to the opinion of another. That right there does not make it truth, just sheep following a guy with a mighty big walking stick. Knowledge is obtained in several different ways, the way the knowledge would determine whether you are the sheep or the man with a lantern roaming the world with a mighty big stick. ‘Conformity to …fact.’ I truly don’t mean to be a piece but what is fact? Even within the scientific community what once was seen as fact is now questionable. Fact is only a perception. Now I am not saying that perception is not true but can one just perceive the truth. Is the truth really to be perceived or is it to be? These facts that one is to conform to, to enable themselves to obtain the truth. These are facts according to whom? I think I should move on to the second definition. ‘Something that is the case.’ This is more of a legalization of the concept of what truth is within governmental matters. ‘The real state of affairs.’ All legal based affairs. Within this definition lies the undertone of factual evidence. I shall touch on this later on. The third definition I will touch upon at a later time. Next, ‘a statement proven to be or accepted as true.’ This definition is the theme of our current society and has been for quite some time. Although it tends to lean toward the latter part of the definitive: ‘accepted as true’. This seems to be the way some view and pursue truth.
My ex-husband once stated that the word truth is such a strong and powerful word. I have to give him credit for making such a meaningful and true statement. I woke up one day and decided that the words that would leave my lips would be nothing but the truth. That little episode lasted only a whole five minutes. The task alone was quite difficult to follow threw with, putting into account the feelings of others, violation of a word previously promised, whether what was coming out of my mouth the truth or what I perceived as the truth. With this all in mind, such a simple thing as speaking in truth brought such difficulty brings to point how heavy this word really is. With such a word being powerful, you would think there would be those that take great care in the use of such a word. Truth. Defining such word done is so complicated, being vague is not enough? Philosophers threw the ages have repeatedly ask ‘What is truth?’ and that question has yet to be answered. Many say the truth shall set you free. If freedom is the goal than it is key and the duty of every individual to know and realize the key to such a freedom. With that it brings up another question. What is truth setting us free from?
The Illusion Called Truth
The truth that must deal with on a fraud scale level is a factual statement (or cause for lack of a better term) based on factual statement (or cause for lack of a better term) based on factual evidence. The very use of the words “fact” and “factual” brings tarnish when dealing with truth, because these facts are based on this reality. Reality alone is based entirely on perception of individual view points. It is almost like saying dealing with factual truth, is dealing with your perception of reality. How you interpret the here and now. I feel before I go on I must once again supply a few definitions:
Reality (re-al-i-te) n;pl.
1- The condition or quality of being real or true.
2- Something that is real
Real (re’el, rel)
1- Not imaginary, fictional, or pretended, actual
2- Authentic or genuine
3- Essential; basic
4- Serious
Illusion (i-loo-zhen) n.
1- a) an erroneous perception of reality
b) an erroneous concept or belief
2- a misleading visual image.
Lie (li)
- a deliberate falsehood.
- To tell or convey a false image or impression.
Now that these definitions have been presented we can continue with them in mind. Where we sit and exist within reality, we must realize there is an illusion within this reality which completely disfigures the truth. There is a saying that goes; ‘ there is a little bite of the truth in each lie’. What the saying doesn’t elaborate on, is that there are more lies out there than truth. Hence, why the truth has been eluding us for so long.
The statements that follow may appear to be an oxymoron but here (or read) this with an open mind and look at the world with eyes wide open. What we see and have come to perceive as truth is an illusion. Sorry, hate to burst that bubble. (not!). In universal reality there is more truth in what we call lies than what we consider to be the truth. With this information within you hands you have to ponder; if out “reality” is made of illusions and falsehood; how can this be truly called reality. Could this be the concept that gave birth to the phrase “ alternate reality”. Seriously, take a good look at the centralized reality; the country that you have pledge you allegiance to: how much do they let you actually know before a door is slammed in your face? The religion you put your faith in; how much of truth is deemed forbidden, taboo, evil? The business that you invest in; how much do they tell you about this bottom-line agenda? Answer those questions (if you can) than answer these. If there is a falsehood attached to this than by the definition of reality; can you really call this reality? Mind- blowing isn’t it. Welcome to the Illusion!
The Truth In Lies
At this point you either think I’m fall of it and is properly under the assumption that I am high while writing this (Which I can assure you the only thing I’m high on is life itself, if that is a hard concept to group that is an idea you should wrap your mind around but that is a completely different essay.) or if you are of open mind you are asking yourself if what I call reality is filled with so much falsehood than where could I find truth. If this is your quest (Which as spiritual beings, it is a natural search, despite the other labels that is placed on it) you are highly disappointed or even a tad bite heated. Let’s face it no one can tell you to make a left at the next light (tree) at the corner go down three blocks, then make a right and at the white house on the corner there you will find truth. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way, it’s a long confusing journey that every individual must face for themselves. Do not fret this is not a lost cause.
Within every lie that exist; there is a small percentage of truth. Although the percentage is small it is there nevertheless. It’s much easier that it sounds all it takes is ascending toward you subconscious, then you can get pass the elaborate decoration known as the lies and retrieve the core known as the truth. Once that is achieved you have a piece of the cosmic truth (in other words a piece of greater truth). As human beings we tend to find the truth within the core and instead taking the rest and leaving for the trash; for example:
A battered wife stays with her abusive husband because when he
hits her, he states “I do this because I love you.”
His statement is not entirely a lie, ladies and gentlemen. Let me break his statement down. First they are married, at one point they both shared that love that brings to human beings together to make that type of committing pact. Threw actions not shown here, he does love her. Yet by presiding the statement with ‘I do this because …..’ makes the lie evident. It is within our human sight to see, recognize, and know the truth. What we have to learn to do (those of us that choose to search for the truth) is re-evaluate how we process the statements and evidence presented to us on a daily basis. This sounds like a large task but it is a small price to pay to know and eventually live in the greater truth. Basically you will be able to take the truth for truth and the lie for the falsehood that it is.
Just would like to add that all this we call reality is not made up a 100% lies because it must have some truth for us (as humans) to be able to function, but just remember that the truth is covered, surrounded and mixed within the lies. This makes the reality false because it is not consistent with the whole truth. So we have to keep the good (truth) and throw away the bad (lies) so we will know the husband loves us but that’s not why he is beating us.
Spiritual Truth
It is in my view and opinion that there is only one kind of truth that can lead you to reality. What I’m trying to say is that searching for the truth within this context is the most purest form of the search for the truth. That is Spiritual Truth. I say this because it is the one truth that cannot be tampered with. Please do not mix spiritual with religions, they are no the same and should not be put in as the same thing. Let me further this explanation. Religious groups have set up spiritual guidelines and paths that help aide an individual down toward spiritual truth. The reason why I say that no one can tamper with it is because spiritual truth is reached, gain and realized on an individual basis. Views and similarities can be shared and coincide with others but the whole of spiritual basis only. That is the order of the universe, there really is no other way. To follow the way of another step-by step and word for word makes it a religion and gives it no spiritual worth to the individual. The only one that shines like the sun in the mist of darkness is the one that reaches their spiritual truth by means of their own accord. It is also the only truth that makes you soul breath a sigh of relief.
Spiritual truth is the most sought out truth in the history of humanity. Although many do not understand what exactly they are searching for, leaders have declared war in search for it. Religious orders have declared holy wars and restriction due to it. They have even search holy items such as the holy grail, Noah’s ark, etc. it almost seems like this is a pre-programmed agenda instilled in us since birth. When we reach the age of the slightest comprehension (usually the age of 1 ½ – 2) we begin this search. It is a need not a want for our survival.
Denial of the Truth
Once one realizes the truth or better yet is faced with it that is not enough. Your search does not suddenly end because you have “found” the truth. You must make a conscious choice on whether to accept it or not. Most tend to disregard it or deny it, this is normal if you have come accustom to what the majority currently called reality. To accept the truth means to change on many different levels. It also means breaking away from the main current of society. That is a tall order if standing alone and becoming a salmon during mating season on a regular basis. What most do not realize is that denial of the truth does much more harm than good. It also does not make sense to go all this way only to turn your back on it.
Before you turn your back on the truth you have to ask yourself; if you remain in the current state of mind how does one grow? How does one expand ones consciousness? You cannot tell me, you can’t tell yourself that this was not the goal once this journey had been embarked upon. Then, truly why should you deny the very thing you search for. Without this willingness and acceptance of the truth one cannot ascend ones soul to the next level.
On this section, I completely speak on a personal level. I am on a consent search for the truth and I have to admit when I started this search I had no idea the true prize and change that would be required for such a task. I was faced with my first taste of truth. I realize that the marriage I was involved in at the time was completely false. I realize that the best thing would be to end it to continue my search. Did I do what I was supposed to do? Nope! I actually thought I could work around it. Well I found out that hard way It doesn’t work that way. The more I fought the truth, the worst things got. You see when you deny the truth, you are fighting against it. Once you are aware of the truth it doesn’t let you turn your back on it. To make a year long story short, I was basically slammed down to my knees ‘til I realized that my search didn’t end by knowing the truth and denial of truth was not an option for the continuation of my spiritual growth. That was my first head to head with truth. I probably will have more because I am human and knowing this fact I know I trip up from time to time.
Yes, the truth questions almost everything you have come to know as real or true. Which you have questioned it’s true worth to take you on this journey. The way it is viewed threw the eyes of this seeker, you do not seek if you cannot accept what you shall find because you are worst than those that do not seek at all. Those that do not seek have no idea what they are turning there backs on. Those of us that are activity on this search know our options it is a cosmic crime to sought out and find the truth, then to consciously turn your back on it. The very thing wanted and hungered for just so you could remain consciously in falsehood. What a crime!
Withholding The Truth
I really can’t tell you which is worst in the cosmic order; denial of the truth or withholding it from those that seek it. Withholding the truth from those that seek it is nothing new, it has been done throughout history, threw the work of governmental sects, religious sects, tribunal sects and etc. religious factions in my view holds a great guilt in this. They use the denial of the truth as an excuse to withhold it from others that seek. It has always been a tool to control the masses.
To take this route is an injustice to your universal soul. The effect this could have on your individual search (journey ) is a great risk. To deny the truth for yourself is completely your choice, a responsibility you carry for your own because in this life that is who you are accountable for. You are the master of your universe, yet if you withhold the truth from those who seek it is basically “playing god” within the universe of another. No one has a right to play with another’s universe. Each and every soul has a mission, the mission tends to be the same yet each must go in direction that best fits them. To withhold the truth from them is a form of derailment and interference (Oh! Religious one).
Please do not misunderstand my words. I am not saying go out and preach the truth to everyone because not everyone will except the truth. Also you have just become like fanatical religious groups. Uck! What I am saying is do not become the barricade for your fellow brother and sisters that share the path with you.
Your Search Begins
This is my take on a very long journey I have just started down. The door is open, yet it has never been closed for the willing and hungry. The search for the truth is anything but easy. It is also a very lonely path, as you go down it you have your rewards within it’s acceptance. My advice is: Keep yourself grounded and question everything. Be a star that you are. Let ‘The All’ guide your way. Love is the Law, Love under will.
