Poetry / You are not gone (Analysis)
In a world of pity
I find myself tied to you,
so tight, so strong, so real
you are not gone
from the punches into my face
you are not gone
from the lies and ridicule of my mind,
you are not gone
from the salty puddle I lay across
In a world of violence
I set upon my flesh
you are not gone
from my mind
as I see you flash to and from
inside my heart that is blackened from years of misuse,
you are not gone
why are you not gone
In this darkened night
I see your face in mine,
I hear your laughter echo through,
you are not gone
because I have not let you go.
And how does a destroyed broken shattered soul
let this go?
how does one see ones not at fault,
how do I see you were wrong
and I was innocent
How can I see that
I fear I cannot
as I fall into the destruction upon myself,
as I cut and burn and bruise and choke myself
all in the name of self hatred, shame and guilt,
and most importantly,
knowing I deserve the deepest of pains
the deepest of wounds
the deepest of shame.
And how can I just allow what may be the truth shine in?
How can I let myself be free
from chains that now become my own
How can I be anything else
but this destruction, hatred and shame?
