Yep. I’ll take some of the publisher information out. Thank you for your comments.

Publisher iUniverse, Inc., the leading provider of publishing technology solutions for authors, announces the release and Publisher’s Choice designation of Little Woods by Steve Campbell, an action novel set in the Chicago area that follows the story of Native Americans, in the year 1833, amidst the aftermath of the Black Hawk War, the official incorporation of Chicago as an American town, and the forfeiture of native land rights through Treaty of Chicago, set off against the misadventures of a 21st-century family walking the same ground and also coping with the upheavals imposed by an encroaching world.
Steve Campbell explains, “Little Woods will provide readers with entertainment, a bit of information about Illinois history, a connection to the transcendence of the prairie, and the message that globalization is real, irreversible, and a test of every individual’s flexibility in adapting to a new reality.”

The information you provided is great. The only omission is whether this is your first novel, or you have other published works. This was actually the first piece of information I tried to find.

This reads very well as a press release, however the last paragraph reads like a promotion for iUniverse, rather than a promotion of your own, hard-earned efforts. If there is any way to pull out the iUniverse information (which takes over your own) then I’d suggest doing it.
Loved the synopsis. It looks like you’ve worked hard on Little Woods. Great premise. Sending good wishes you way. Hope this was helpful.
My only question was about the author. Very little is given in the bio. His profession gives little clue as to why he would pick this particular story to write about. Readers like to know that the author is knowledgeable about the subject matter. Other than living in Chicago I’m not given any other information or if he has ever published anything else.
Overall, well done.
I feel it works. I am impressed because so few can write these without rambling unless formally trained. As a reader, you have given more than enough to hook my curiosity. That is how you sell, with a ‘hook’ not unfocused info. Because I do have a self-taught background in marketing and copywriting, that much I can answer. Also, paragraph 1 makes paragraph 4 a bit redundant. I would extract the similar components of 1 and combine them with paragraph 4. Other than that, it works.

Thanks for the clear, concise summary of this book. Sounds like a good read. But also an ad, which is not what I bargained for.
Well the article covers a lot, but looks to me more of an advert for iUniverse than an attempt to promote Steve Campbell’s book. The book sounds interesting to me and I’d have liked to know some more about it as opposed to hearing where the editorial staff at iUniverse gained their experience.
The book would interest me and looks very good on the surface. I wonder why Steve Campbell didn’t hold out for a contract with a mainstream publishing house, as opposed to iUniverse who, in truth, are more of a vanity publisher the same as Author House here in the UK.
I would say that this is quite effective, giving readers enough information to be interested in the book without revealing any major plot points.
As a press release it was all there. Gave a great outline to the books subject, a great blurb about the author. Good idea to mention the publisher as well. Can I use this as a template for my press release for my book?
I too published a novel via iU, but this reads more like an add for them. Press people know all about them. Sell You. Not iUniverse .
It looks good. I would create a catcher title and omit the history of iuniverse. This release should focus on you and your book. Don’t forget your contact info and where to order.
