Poetry / Towards A Distant Star
One day I was born on this planet.
One day I was left all alone
In a world of violence and darkness
Far away from home.
Now this world is slowly dying
And the love is almost gone.
In this world there’s no use for crying
When you’re far away from home.
My home’s a million miles
Towards a distant star.
Far away I wait and wonder
Why I went so far.
In this world we’re slowly dying
And we’re blinded by the light.
Been too long in the darkness.
Fighting hard to kill the fright.
Fighting hard to stop the fighting
As we kneel down on our knees.
Ask your gods for forgiveness.
I can hear you crying, “please!”
Well, the lights, they are all scattered.
It takes work to succeed
In a world were nothing matters
If you stay or if you leave.
My home’s a million miles
Towards a distant star.
Far away I wait with wonder
Wonder why we are.
Now the dark is slowly dying
As light and love fill the lands.
Amazed, I watch it happen
As we hold Earth in our hands.
If we act and keep believing
The light will soon fill the sky.
We will laugh again like children
As we learn the reasons why.
I look to you, my brethren,
To look within yourselves.
Your answers are all hidden
Deep within your cells.
Your home’s a million miles
Towards a distant star.
Far away you cry with wonder
Wonder who you are.
