I am a newly published (first book)author. This is so exciting! The biggest challenge is getting my book seen and read by a greater audience. I used a POD (print on demand) publisher who does absolutely no promo for my book. That means it is entirely up to me and you to get this book out there.
If I do say so myself, it is a great book and has a totally unique style in delivery of the story. It is a story based on the factual events of my life prior to becoming incarcerated at age 22. I welcome any of you to give it a read. I can send a pdf file copy of the book to anyone willing to give me a review on it. If you don’t want to review it, you have to purchase your own copy.

She inhales the sterile aroma of the recently scrubbed corridor as she stands in front of a bright pink metal door with a twelve-by-four inch opening in the lower center of it. The opening reminds her of the library book return drop slot in elementary school. Her hands are secured behind her back with steel wrist restraints. A starched orange uniform hangs loosely on her body, yet somehow feels confining in itself. Her ankles, bound by similar restraints, are rudely reminded of their presence...

Seasons change with the pass of time, leaving behind what once was mine. A broken heart, words left unsaid, as I lay my head to rest... ...upon this stranger's bed. Thoughts drift into a sleepless night, something within just isn't right. A single tear drifts down my face,Within my heart a cold, empty space. Captured on the winds of change, this loneliness I cannot explain. I'm lying here and you're far away, what more is there left to say? Such time wasted when time was here, never once think...

I should have realized it then! When once I allowed you to come into me… By the way you pounded loudly on my doortrying to get me to open up my space to you… I should have known it wasn’t a safe thing to do! You wore those steel-toed shoes and corrupted attitude… Stomping and tracking in your dirt and mud… Leaving boot prints that stained me… Now I look within and see your negligence there, I cannot wash away the evidence that remains! No matter the tactics or tricks I may try… I’m devastated...

"I will fuckin' kill you right now!" I have heard these words before. I have been here before, both figuratively and literally. This place, where my life is in the hands of him, of them. This place where I am standing, the old lookout up in the mountain, again. I have been here on this cement railing before, when I was responding to a taunt from a boy I liked as a teenager, my life in the balance of my cocky feet, as I walked this cement railing overlooking a steep ravine, laughing with my fr...

The content and context are great. I, myself, don't really love romantic poetry because it seems so much like a temporary illusion so it didn't resonate with me, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the piece. Romantic love is divine (albeit temporary) and it makes for some very creative juices! Overall the piece is well written and flows smoothly, creating a vivd mental picture.
Even though this work was pulled out of a novel, the story works as a short story overall by itself because it has a beginning, a plot, and an ending that satisfy the reader. The story line left me no puzzling questions about what happened before the coffee shop or what happened after the accident. I thoroughly enjoyed the banter of the two main characters and loved the humorous punchline at the end.
I got confused by this poem. At first it seems the author is inferior and then transitions and becomes superior and I didn't "get" how, when, or why that happened. Maybe it's just me, but I don't get it. Other than that, I liked it. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's work so that I may better understand the work.
I really liked this piece. The picture it painted in my mind was vivd and quite entertaining. Another work that depicts the sadness, bitterness, and emptiness that consumes a lonely heart when amongst the blissfully ignorant.
