Honestly, I don't understand why someone would say that this isn't publishable. Publishing this may not have been your intention, but in my opinion, if you did publish it you would be able to reach more people that may have gone through the same thing. There are plenty of poetry similar to this one that I have seen in the self help/recovery section of my preferred bookstore. So, keep up the good work! I really enjoy it!
There was a lot of good advice in that that I could have used when I was a teen. She should type up a version of that and hand it around to high school kids.
It is not a bad poem, but it seems to stop short. I think you should go back to it and try to add more, make it longer. There seems to be more that could be said.
