I really hate this waiting room. The walls are stained and there is no art on the walls. How can there not be art on the walls? What does she expect me to look at while I wait for her to finish up the appointment before mine? nueral paths with blue trim a film of moisture blocks the way embrionic fluid crosses through but the rat knaws on the strings the double doors swing open light pours into the darkness dust flies off the yellowed keys but the rhythmic sound of breathing holds steady

Short Story / The Trouble with Coyotes
This is a strong main character. She is sad, withdrawn and a bit selfish. You have written her in a way though that is not too intense and it's easy to get a feel for her through her actions throughout the story. This reminds me a lot of Russell Banks and his characters. We do feel for them, but also think they should get what they deserve for their actions. You have some beautiful lines in here -- "yesterday's mascara running down her face" and "she's in love with a memory".
