About Credits
Why do we have credits?
Urbis uses credits as a currency to balance reviews among members. You earn credits when you review the work of other people and refer friends to the site. You spend credits to reveal reviews of your own work that other people have done for you.
What does that mean for site users?
- The more reviews you give, the more reviews you receive.
- Reveal your existing reviews to receive more reviews.
How does the math work?
When earning credits by reviewing work:
- Earn 1 credit for every 20 read in the item being reviewed.
- Earn 1 credit for every 2 words written in the review of the item.
When spending credits to reveal a review:
- Spend thirty percent more than the reviewer earned.
What about abuse?
To assure that members aren’t getting more than they’ve earned, Urbis has established a set of review guidelines that all reviews must meet. If a review fails to meet these guidelines, the reviewer will lose all the credits they had earned and the creator of the reviewed work will receive a refund equal to the credits they had spent.
How do credits affect the review queue?
To encourage site participation Urbis places the most deserving members highest in the review queue. The most deserving members are defined as those who have the most credits after revealing all received reviews (ie, the total value of your unrevealed reviews, subtracted from your total credits). Members are ranked according to this number and placed in the queue accordingly.
