You are projecting your viewpoint unjustly on every single being in the American population, which is untrue. I would add before this: "It seems to me that a rather large majority of the American population's first impression is not..." "Being white in America means that you have the proverbial silver spoon from the beginn...
I liked it. "feeling my gums bare as a centenarian’s." I would suggest replacing "centenarian's" with something more visual. Also change "man made" to "man-made"
