I’m 24 and currently in college. Writing has been a passion of mine since I was old enough to write.

Reading was a common family past time in my childhood house and it continues to be in my adulthood house.

My strong points are horror and suspense fiction. I am currently working on several different pieces of writings, all with the intent of possible future publication.

I take artistic licensing a lot in my work. It’s my belief that grammar has fallen out of favor in today’s English. When a person focuses too much on good grammar in their writing, they loose the natural flow. People don’t talk and communicate with proper grammar. It’s sad, perhaps, but true nonetheless. So, I tend to write more along the lines of how I think. Or…

Humans have bloated egos, applying a laughable sense of importance to our species and our existence as a whole. It is we, not nature that likes for things to be complicated.

My Daughter’s Smile 2/20/08 It wasn’t worth it to me. The years of tears my pillow had seen. The pain, the struggle of living It wasn’t worth it to me. The things that I had endured, They gave me strength, but It wasn’t worth it to me. I met a man, riding on a bus He asked for my number, Said he wanted to get together for coffee He didn’t call me for a month. The phone rang; I was feeling lonely. I met that man from the bus. We didn’t have coffee but lunch, And then dinner instead. It’s funny...

Short Story / Watching is Painful

In this world there are those that are, and those that are not. Those that watch, and those that see nothing. Those that change, and those who are changed. In this world, there are many forces at work; forces that go beyond simplistic terms like “good” and “evil”. “It is time, Mackenzie,” the deep, rich, monotoned voice came from a strange man. Mackenzie doesn't understand where he is, or what is going on. In fact, the more he tries to contemplate the figure hovering before him, the less tha...

Is it really the end of the road? Possible Southside closing creates tough choices for many students In the first week of the fall semester, over a thousand Cowley students drove to classes at the Southside Education Center in Wichita. Few could have anticipated that after the summer semester of 2007, Cowley will no longer be able to provide general education courses at the Southside Education Center. By law, Wichita State University has the legal right to mandate which courses other colleges...

Poetry / Louise Bryant
It's short and to the point, I appreciate that. The last two lines in it though are startlingly obtuse to the rest of the poem. I understand that it may be intended, as unexpected deaths are generally obtuse ... but the words themselves aren't as eloquent and the don't have the poetic flow that the previous lines have. Good luck.

Capitalization is your friend :) Seriously, when you don't capitalize the first letter of the first word in a sentence it becomes very disorienting to read. The capitalization becomes a signal to the brain to pause, it informs the mind that there is a change in thought. It is very important for flow; without proper capitalization a reader finds themselves having to re-read the same sentence several times in a row to differentiate it properly from surrounding sentences. Many people now days wr...
Let me begin by stating that I find it odd that you seem to separate the terms "spirit" and "soul". I've never met anyone who sees these things as being different from one another, they are always just different words for the same thing. Whatever, it makes no real difference. To each their own, I don't wish to debate spirituality with anyone. However, I think that because you have stepped away from "the norm" here you should work a clearer description into your piece about what exactly a "spi...
