I am a 27 years old and live in Ann Arbor, MI. My favorite writers include Kurt Vonnegut, David Sedaris, Charles Baxter, Hunter S. Thompson and JD Salinger.

I have been a writer for most of my life, but only recently did I get motivated enough to start really trying to do something with it. A friend introduced me to nanowrimo.org and I finished the 50,000 word challenge in just three weeks. My story “The Pen Pal Incident” is three chapters of the Novel I wrote for that.

I joined this site to get some feedback to join me along the way as I start to submit things for publication. Some of my stuff can be taken seriously, and other things such as my short stories, are meant to make you wonder if it’s okay to laugh or not. I hope to m…

Chapter Seven Years before the letter was written, I captivated you. You choose to ignore this though, much like you choose to ignore my letter. Which is why I’m coming to find you right this moment. Anyway, this was only after we vowed to never hold hands again. Five years ago it was like any old story, a broken heart, a special day, a vow, a shattered truth, walking past a house empty with more than bodies. I always jumped up to pull the leaves off the branches that hung a little too low, w...

Chapter One I don’t think I’d call it an ‘obsession’ per say. My relationship with Joaquin - it was more like destiny. I knew I’d seen him in a few other movies, but never did the chord strike so hard as it did when I saw him in “Walk The Line”, which was a movie about Johnny Cash, the legendary country rock singer, also known as “The Man in Black.” I had always admired JR Cash, which was why I went to see the movie. That was when I felt “the connection” with Joaquin Phoenix. I was staring at...

I think you brought up a lot of very good points. I was at first going to ask why you assume that god would see man as an imperfect creation, but then you backed it up with the fact that man makes so many mistakes. True - but one could argue that maybe God puts obsticles in front of man so that he will fail, and then learn from his failures. I am actually unsure of what I believe myself, and I do truly feel that the bible is just a fictional story, because it carries so many contradictions. I...

Very rich and sensual... sometimes descriptive words don't even make a feeling whole, but your poem captures that pretty well. It's very believable, even though you are speaking to a huge audience, rather than writing about just one person as most 'love' poems are... Great job!
Poetry / Sorrow
I love the tone of this poem, and can almost hear it being read aloud by someone, and how they might say each line. Which is kind of why I didn't like the ending. It wasn't that I didn't like the idea of the ending, but you kind of have a theme going rhythmically, and the ending line just kind of puts the rhythm to a halt. I think it's a great poem though, I love the feeling of stillness.
