I struck you; you turned away Stung by my arrogant pride, rejected – My love, my counterpart. I hardened breaking heart Knowing you would leave, That I'd never see you again – No chance for a brand new start. . I stumbled brokenly in the dark Of fear and anger and pain, And how I cried that night, Grounded soul never taking flight. With you went the sun, For the dawn without love Is the moon without its light. . The world turned without me And left me far behind; How long I wept I don't know;...

I patted the soft gold neck of my palomino mare, Kaffa, as I led her away from the common stable. I liked her name. I named her myself. I would have given her a proper Indian name, but on the reservation, that sort of thing was frowned upon. I didn't want to give her an English name either, so I made one up. Kaffa sort of fit her. . Her pink-rimmed eyes and upturned mouth made her look as if she found something perpetually amusing, and I wished she would let me in on the joke. Maybe she was l...

She was fierce. She was beautiful. The wind was her friend, The plains her home, The endless skies her cloak. Storm and summer were her friends, She raced the hawk and eagle; She danced like a graceful gazelle, The soft fluting of her nostrils To greet each morning; Ever wild, ever free, ever alone she ran. . He was bold. He was dangerous. The beast of the forest, The shadow of the night; His piercing yellow gaze Chilled foe and prey alike. None dared stand before The fury of his wrath. He ha...

Poetry / A Child's Faith
Awwww cute! A beautiful poem capturing the butterfly heart of a little girl. The imagery is beautiful - catching the sunlight in her hair and wind tugging at her clothes and sand and sea begging her to play. The one line that seemed out of sync rhythm-wise was: "...and begged her to enter the teeming deep..." It would help to take out the word "to", for starters, but perhaps you could reword it altogether. I felt like it didn't quite mesh with the rest of the poem. Other than that, beautiful ...

This is beautiful. Sweet imagery combined with smooth rhythm and the truth about poetry all bring this piece to life. I can see nothing to change, but am rather enchanted by the line: "Capture beauty in thoughts unheard." Interesting because I've found it's easier for most people to express emotion in writing rather than in the spoken word. Great stuff, and I'd like to see more of your work out and about. Happy writing! Jazzcat

ROTFL! i don't entirely understand this poem, but it's incredibly amusing and very well done. Sharp imagery portrayed with artfully-crafted words - the tray of waxy cheese cubes impaled on frilly toothpicks in particular - help make this an engaging piece. I sure would love to know more about what it means. Blessings, Jazzcat

Beautiful work. It's powerful and emotional and moving all at the same time. Creatively, it's perfect. Technically, you might want to try evening the syllable count... it's tough because you have several "pace-changes" throughout the poem, so you might want to even it out only in certain places - say, match every two lines or every other line. It will make for a smoother read. Some lines will simply refuse to be changed, and that's alright. Don't sacrifice the creativity - that's what makes p...
