This is a story a truly amazing story of an unsung hero who over the past few months has become a hero of mine. Let me first tell you how all this started. I have been working for the past eight months in two little villages called Crosskeys and Pontywaun. Set in the heart of Gwent, they now sit pretty between pine clad and green grass mountains. I say now as they have recovered their beauty from being squeezed amongst the blacken coal slag heaps of the mining industry. The rivers are clear,...

Valley Boy Wasted years with an empty mind School days finished, gates closed behind Thatcher stole my youthful dreams With shut down pits and government schemes Tears and fears in the valley boys head He packed his bags the home towns dead... It's goodbye ghost town, hey big city Gotta get out, gotta break away free Goodbye ghost town, hey big city Valley boys chasing after his dreams... Beggars in the subways and busy street corners Abused and accused young juvenile loners Sharing a room on...

Poetry / Bitter but Proud

Bitter but Proud You’re the land that taught me to stand proud In our Celtic hearts we sing so loud Foundations dug deep for out black gold Lives were lost… The coal was sold. English masters tried to rule our hills Still in our hearts the red blood spills Onto the pitch where the dragons roar Fighting hard to settle… The score. Land of Wales, all things Welsh Bitter but proud with the blood of a Celt. Bread of heaven in our hands No-one will ever take our land! Your roaming, rambling beauty ...

Lyrics / My Little Song

My Little Song I think I’ve seen enough of this world to write a little song You may say you seen nothing kid, I’ll try to prove you wrong I sit down with a pen in my hand, trying to write some lines Recollecting back upon my life, of some exciting times There was a time I do recall, I ran this world amok Living my life wild and free, riding on my luck. When I got into to trouble and locked up in a cell The sergeant came to see me and said, “son you will end up in hell” I laughed at him and s...

Poetry / Adam & Eve

Adam & Eve Come walk with me in the garden Through the yellow petals of daffodil You can be Eve and this our Eden And sit and gaze down from the hill We will watch the birds pass us by On their way to a foreign land Shadows of sun in the deep blue sky Yellowed sunbeams of deserting sand Washed down by a great white waves Slowly wearing the rocky rugged coast In and out of dark hollow caves Echoed winds make the sound of a ghost I will be Adam, you’re my Eve This is our world; it’s too good to...

Goodbye, Good Riddance I feel it’s too late for saying goodbye All that’s been said and done has made us cry So rocky was the path that we followed throughout We was both to blame there can be no doubt I sat back and watched you carry on When away from me your nightlife shone Your so called friends were also to blame To them their lives were just a game. Sat alone for years all on my own Tearful nights in our nice home Drinking myself into sorrowful states Down in your town, away from my mate...

Poetry / RUNAWAY KIDS

RUNAWAY KIDS Runaway kids miles from home live in boxes and doorways of Britain’s capital city. Walking the streets like wily old Foxes, searching for food and people to take pity. Begging in subways and busy street corners To feed their bellies and addicted minds Abused and accused young juvenile Loners, prostitutes, rent boys and other mixed kinds. Round their little fires they ponder Their life, while a drunken tramp Sings a sad song. Guarding their patch with a blade of a knife, stabbing ...

LUST Neither nature nor art could make you more perfect than you are. The pleasant curves and taste of your body are implanted in my Mind forever. Like a lost soul I wander in a Daze searching for happiness which I will never find. But as long as I have you in my mind, I live in hope that our paths will one day cross and my heart can once again unwind. Till the next time I say goodbye. Viv Huskings www.roots2life.com

Poetry / Sea of Hope
Version 1

Sea of Hope I am astray in this world of broken dreams Like a lost buoy in a gale force sea A drunken sunken anchor in shifting sands Not knowing which way the tide will take me Which wave will save me; to carry me away to a Paradise shore; where no troubles lie in store. Maybe I can sprout and grow a new shoot, or a branch To let them know there’s life in the old sea dog yet! Give unto me my haven in the sun, where I can hide Away from the lost ships crow’s nest. Thus leaving me for another ...

Love, Truth & Suicide It can be your greatest glory, the ups bring happy minds Each kiss addicts a hold, each touch the heart grinds Testing strength and stamina, bringing gifts of cherished hope Each smile unlocks doors, every glance sights new scope. But every lie can make you wonder, is the end impending soon Alone with jealous raging, the blood boiling in full moon But every minute late you ponder, what bed do they share now Alone your trusts are shattered, you take the final bow. The bea...
