I’m 29 yrs old, and have live in ontario canada for the past nine years. I was born in Jamaica, and have been writing poetry and literature for all my life. Writing, for me, has been pretty much a thankless task, it exists purely for its own enjoyment. I love to write but would love it even more if I could earn some sort of a living from it. I have won two editor’s choice awards for my poetry, in 2004 and 2007.

The world is scarred All I see are scars We put scars on the earth And pump her blood into our cars Life is scarred She bears/bares her scares My wife’s got a scar on her stomach Cause giving birth is so hard Scars All I see are scars On T.V. they idolize stars But most of them are just filled with scars Either surgical scars Or scars on their hearts Scars Neatly tucked behind jailhouse bars Scars Freshly cut on the faces of the starved Scars Young and old All bear the marks Scars You can’t h...

I hate the sight of lit candles I had no candles for you Standing there altogether dismantled Burning away like a lit fuse I can hardly believe it Your flame extinguished All that you left were your sparks Alone and yearning to burn You left a smoldering hole in my heart And a lesson in loss well learnt A place and time long forgotten All that's left now is the scorched earth Fallow and illtrodden A memorial where your flame once burnt But no candles Not a single one I can never handle That t...

Flash Fiction / 6 word memoir
I like it and Its Quotable.
Poetry / rain
I would substitute the word "pounce" for "pound" at the end of the sixth stanza. Good use of personification to add life to nature, the only fault however is the lack of a constant theme to keep the personification focused. The casual reader may tend to be confused as to what is being personified and may then loose sight of the true focus of the poem. Good overall, This writer is talented and, with improvement, is well on his way.
This six word memoir is expressive and somewhat quizzical. Good
